Amara’s POV
I slept the whole hours during the flight, I only woke up when I heard the pilot announce we had just touched down in Paris.
Coming here is a bittersweet memory for me; I always wanted to come to the city. Kason had promised he’ll take me here but that was a fluke.
Shaking the memories off I got down from the plane and got a cab to the hotel I had booked earlier.
I took a deep breath, this was going to be a new start.
I was safe at last.
My phone beeped, and I checked it; Kason had taken Chrissy on a romantic candlelight dinner. I kissed my teeth in annoyance; they wouldn’t know what hit them when I was done with them.
Kason’s Pov
It had been hours, and I was still yet to be called by the hospital to come to get Amara; truthfully, when I saw the divorce papers, I panicked.
I want her around not just for Chrissy’s high risk pregnancy but also because she’s my best friend, she used to be so kind and loving. Till Chrissy showed me Amara’s true nature; she was greedy, manipulative, and selfish. I had even once applied for a job at their company hoping her connections would help me get in.
But I never got a response, Chrissy told me Amara had told her Dad not to give me the Job because it’s a high paying job. She said once I have access to money I’ll feel like I’m on her level.
I was deeply hurt by this and realized all Chrissy had told me about her was true. It was Chrissy who picked me up from the ground at that hard time and helped me secure a good job that helped me get my life together.
When she asked for my help, I couldn’t refuse her. Later on, I realized I had feelings for her after her constant seduction.
My phone vibrated in my pocket and I took it out, answering the call when I saw it was the hospital calling.
Somehow I already had a bad feeling in my gut, “Hello, I said.
The caller sounded apprehensive, “Sir…. Please, by any chance, did you already come to take your wife from the hospital? Because she’s nowhere to be found.”}]
“What the heck do you mean she’s nowhere to be found!” My angry tone made Chrissy give me a questioning look.”
“What’s going on babe?” She asked her eyes full of worry.
But I couldn’t respond; my head felt like it was spinning around with anxiety.”
“Sir?” The man on the line asked.
“You check every hospital footage if anything happens to my wife under your watch. I promise I’ll sue your hospital down to the ground.” I say through my teeth and end the call.
Chrissy rolls her eyes at me, “Why are you getting this worked up just because Amara is missing from the hospital. Who cares where she is? And besides, I doubt she can go that far.Mum hasn’t yet given her the settlement. She’s broke.”
Although what Chrissy said sounded logical. I had a feeling in my gut, she was awfully wrong.
I stood up to leave, Chrissy had a bewildered look on her face.
“Why are you taking this so seriously.” I was getting aggravated by her questions by the minute.
“Chrissy, just stop. I’m going to find my wife.”
She gasped and dramatically held her chest, “wife? Babe, you are getting divorced. I’m going to be your wife.” I felt bad when I saw tears from her eyes.
Letting out a deep breath to calm myself, pulled her into my arms. She didn’t know I saw her wipe her tears and smirk.
Was she manipulating me?”
“I’m sorry okay, just let me handle this situation before it gets out of hand.”>
She pouted but nodded. “Okay, but I give you one hour. I need you back here.”
I pulled away, slightly irritated at her neediness and selfishness.

Leaving Chrissy’s house, I raced to the house, if Amara wasn’t at the hospital. Maybe she was home.
I ran to the room only to find her suitcase missing, her personal belongings too. It was plain as day, my wife had left me.
My legs suddenly felt like jelly, all the good times we had flashed before my eyes. Refusing to accept it, I call her number but I’m told by the network provider that her line is unreachable.”
I got a notification on my social media account that Amara had deleted her social media accounts. There was no trace of her anywhere, almost like she was a ghost that never existed.”
The hospital calls again, I answer it full of false hope that they’ll tell me that this was all but a cruel mixup and she was still at the hospital.

I smash my phone against the wall in anger; as long as Amara is on the face of the earth, I promise I’ll find her.

It had been exactly two weeks since Amara’s disappearance and I hadn’t found her. I even hired a private investigator to help but he met with dead ends.
I went to the authorities for help, but they informed me that Amara had requested for her identity to be deleted and exchanged with a new one, which was confidential.
I tried to bribe it out of them, but I got angry. Sted Chrissy had to get my lawyer to come bail me out.
I felt like I was slowly losing my mind. Does a person just disappear without a trace into thin air?%
I even had to take a break from work; staying in the home that Amara and I shared had become too cold and full of bitter–sweet memories.
I had to move in with Chrissy temporarily.
“I think you’re taking this too far babe. You’re acting like you care about Amara.” Chrissy says.}
I furrow my eyebrows in irritation at her, I was beginning to doubt all she had said about Amara. Even Amara’s mom, although all she had done, was going crazy looking for her.
It was only Chrissy who seemed not to care whether her sister was dead or alive.
“Chrissy, I’m not in your mood. If you don’t have any helpful information at least pretend to care.“}
My remark brought tears to her eyes, but sincerely, this little trick of hers was beginning to get old.”
“I’m sorry, I’m also worried about my sister too. But someone has to stay strong, you and my mother are already distraught.”
“It’s fine. At least you have the company all to yourself now; your mother said there’s a slight inflation and more profit with each buy in the stocks. That’s good news to cheer us up.”>
Chrissy eyes brightened, “yes, I heard about that too. And also I was thinking of making you my next in command in the company.“}
