Amara’s Pov
I met Jake Kingston at the second foreign country I had fled to after my mother found out my whereabouts. I went there for a fresh start.
I had a lot of money to spare so I had decided to start up a foundation for homeless people and provide shelter.
Jake is a philanthropist and his company offered to partner with my foundation.
The first day we met we were instantly drawn to each other but I was hesitant and acted like nothing was happening between us because of the hurt and disappointment of my past relationships.
But Jake was relentless without over pressuring me, he kept me–safe and even when he found out about my past he didn’t hold out on me. I was afraid of his love; it had seemed too good to be true.}
Till the day he finally broke down, after one of our major outreaches.
“Why don’t you just give me a chance,Amara. I want to show you how much I can love and protect you. I know you’ve been hurt in the past, I won’t ever cause you pain.“}
There were tears of compassion in his eyes and I finally gave in not because of just his beautiful words but also because never for once did his words not match his actions.
So far he hasn’t broken his promise and I’m ready to be his wife.
Looking up at him, I felt nothing but joy and gratitude.
“I got you.” He said softly and held me the whole flight till we arrived.}
A private convoy came to carry us to his family house. I couldn’t help but look at the city with nostalgia as I gazed at the familiar surroundings and buildings.
It brought back bittersweet memories for me.
We arrived at the Kingston residence and I felt my heart drop to the pit of my belly. The Kingston’s are one of the wealthiest and prestigious families in the world.
What if they judge me for my traumatic past and scandals? All the while during me and Jake’s relationship, his parents had only communicated with me via brief video calls.
Jake held my hand as we got out of the limo, he leaned in and whispered in my ear, “Don’t worry, they already love you.” His gentle smile eased my anxiety.”
At the dinner table his parents couldn’t stop gushing over me, “our son didn’t tell us those short video calls didn’t do justice to your beauty.” Jake’s beautiful mother said, I smiled feeling slightly embarrassed by all the lovely compliments.}
“Thank you so much, you’re both very kind.” I said shyly.
Jake chuckled, “That’s enough mum and Dad, she’s as red as a tomato already.“}
His parents laughed with him, “Well, I can’t wait to show her off at the function tomorrow. And also,so we can start planning the wedding, it’ll be the talk of the century.”
I have never felt as loved as I felt at this moment, since my father passed away. Remembering him suddenly made this bitter/ sweet, I blinked the fine sheen of tears forming in my eyes.
Jake noticed and gave me a questioning look of concern and held my hands under the table.§
“Are you okay?” He whispered.}
“Never been better.” I said it with a smile.}
“Aww so cute.” His parents gushed again and this time, I blushed redder than a cherry.}
“So you said you both have a big announcement.” His father said, clearing his voice.
“We’re pregnant!” I and Jake said in unison.}
His parents cheered happily, “That’s such great news! How far along are you?“}
“Just a month, we’re not ready to share the news with the public just yet because it’s still in the early and fragile stage.” His parents nodded in agreement.}
They stood up and gave me an affectionate hug. “Don’t worry about anything, we’ll support you in every way once you have the baby. You just need to focus on your health.“}
“Thank you so much.” I smiled with warmth,my heart feeling full.”
Suddenly we all heard a loud bang in the far distance at the gate of the villa and voices arguing.}
Jake immediately received a private call, his countenance changed to anger and confrontational.
“I understand, I’ll be down there soon.“}
“What’s going on babe?” I asked with eyes full of worry.”
He stood up and kissed my forehead, “Don’t worry about it, it’s nothing serious. I just need to handle someone at the gate.”
He looked at his Dad, “Please take mum to the room. I’ll be back soon.”
His parents hugged me warmly one last time and retired back to their bedrooms.
Jake led me to his bedroom, “Give me a minute, I’ll come get you soon. Promise me you’ll stay put.“}
Ivaally didn’t feel like but I nodded “I will ”

I really didn’t feel like but I nodded, “I will.”
“Good girl.” He responded.}
I watched him as he dashed out of the bedroom downstairs, realizing I had a good view of the gate from his bedroom window.
I parted the curtains to see the last person expected to see. Kason was outside the gate with an armored truck and some dangerous–looking goons.
“What the heck!” I say in shock.
Kason’s Pov
I finally see the man who is trying to steal Amara away from me face to face. I’ll have to be honest :he looked way intimidating in person with ta all frame and broad shoulders.}
But I was too desperate to turn back, he came with a number of tough security men dressed in black.}
“At last someone comes out to answer, I was beginning to think the prestigious Kingston family were all cowards.“}
His eyes glinted sharply and I immediately knew he was a dangerous man.}
“You’re causing a nuisance, I’m in a good m,ood so I’ll be kind enough to ask what you want?” His voice was commanding and tough.”
By the second I was beginning to doubt that I could steal Amara away back from such a powerful man. But I can’t give up hope.
“I’m here to get my wife back, and I’m not leaving without her.“}
Jake laughed to my face as though I had just told a hysterical joke.}
“You have no wife here and I’m giving you five minutes to get off my property. Else I’ll have to exercise force to get you outta here.”
Anger exploded in my body, “You don’t scare me you wife thief, I know all these years you manipulated and kept Amara away from me and her sick mother. What kind of heartless man are you?“Ð
