It had all been extravagant, magnificent. For a time, Naya believed that was love. But later, she realized it was just Cesar’s way of compensating for Zora.8

Cesar’s eyes reddened as he stared at the ring, stunned.
His gaze turned wild, his voice trembling. “No, Naya… I won’t let you wear the ring Sheldon gave you. You’re mine. I won’t let you leave me.”
He lunged forward, frantically trying to pull the ring off her finger, as if that could stop her from walking away.
Naya cried out as his grip tightened, her fingers reddening. She struggled, but he refused to let go.

But Naya didn’t flinch. Her expression remained calm, detached, as if Cesar wasn’t even there.
It shattered him all over again.
“We’re married, Cesar. How can you say we’re done?” Zora burst into tears.
Yes, she had signed the divorce papers when he left, but they had never finalized it. The divorce certificate was never issued.!! Hearing that, Cesar’s fury erupted.
He grabbed her by the throat. “Go back to Chirean and get the divorce certificate. Immediately. Don’t try anything.”
As he spoke, he dialed Jules and ordered her to take care of the legal paperwork.
