Chapter 9
I cut him off, my voice sharp and unwavering.
“All thanks to you, right? Do you really have the nerve to rewrite history like that? You personally handed me over to two other men. And now I’m supposed to be grateful that I had the chance to carry a child?”
“Keon, I owe you nothing.”
His face paled. “I was wrong, Kesley, I know I was. It was all my fault.”
Then, as if expecting praise, his eyes suddenly brightened.
“I had Kizzie thrown in jail! She’s the one who leaked the photos to the auction house. I didn’t cover for her–1 made sure she paid for it! Doesn’t that prove I love you? That I chose you over her? That I truly regret what I’ve done?”
I let out a cold, hollow laugh and locked eyes with him. “Then tell me–why are you still sitting here, talking to me?”
His smile faltered. “What…?”
I leaned in, my voice like ice.
“You–the one who drugged me, handed me over to those men and filmed it all–why aren’t you rotting in prison too?”
I took a step closer. My voice rose, unwavering.
“If you were really sorry, if you actually meant a damn word you just said, then the only place I should be seeing you is through a glass window on visitor’s day.”
Keon recoiled as if I’d slapped him, stumbling backward until he hit the floor. For the first time, he had nothing to say.
“Funny how easy it was for you to destroy someone else’s life, but now that it’s your turn, you just can’t seem to pull the trigger, huh?”
Keon’s lips trembled. “No–it’s not like that! My parents are the ones who got me out…”
I let out a sharp, mocking laugh, clapping my hands.
“Oh wow, I had no idea the great Keon Woods was such an obedient son. Tell me, where was that loyalty when they told you to treat me right? When they told you to stop obsessing over Kizzie? Guess you only listen when it benefits you. What a pathetic little hypocrite.”
The more he tried to hide from the truth, the more I shoved it in his face.
Keon broke down, clutching his head, sobbing like a child. “What do I have to do for you to forgive me?!”
I dusted off my sleeves, looking down at him from above. “Hmm… let’s see. Violating someone’s privacy, arranging a gang assault, illegally obtaining controlled substances- what’s the usual sentence for that?”
His voice was barely a whisper. “At least ten… up to twenty years…”
3/3 80.0%
I crouched down, lightly patting his tear–streaked face.
“Well, there’s your answer. Go serve your time, then we’ll talk. Now, get lost.”
Keon practically crawled out of the room.
My dad, watching him retreat, raised an eyebrow. “What the hell happened to him?”
I grinned, winking at him. “Your daughter scared him off.”
The next day, news about the Woods family was everywhere.
Hazell and Alima had spent every last ounce of influence trying to bury the scandal, only for Keon to single–handedly blow it all to hell overnight.
After leaving my office, he went straight to the police station. Kept repeating his crimes over and over, shouting like a madman.
“Arrest me! Lock me up! I’m a sinner!”
He confessed everything. Every last detail of what he had done to me. And he didn’t stop there he even sent the evidence to the media himself, making sure the whole world knew.
Of course, he also took the opportunity to clear the Harts of any involvement, painting them as victims, making sure everyone knew he was the one who had wronged them.
Hazell and Alima were scrambling to do damage control, but it was too late.
Just like he promised, Keon personally delivered himself straight to prison.
The media followed him all the way to court, cameras flashing as he stepped out in handcuffs. Just before being shoved into the police van, he turned to the lens, tears sliding down his face as he smiled.
“Kesley, do you see my sincerity now?”
Oh, I saw it. Loud and clear. And thanks to him, divorcing him just got a hell of a lot easier.
With Keon in prison, I filed for divorce immediately. Didn’t even need his consent–just like that, I was free.

Hazell and Alima came crying to me more than once, begging me to visit their son. “Please, just see him. He just wants to see you.”
I smiled politely and said no.
