Chapter 8 The Testament
After arriving in Trevias, I threw myself completely into work and hired a servant to take care of Ashley’s daily needs.
I suddenly realized that sometimes men are less reliable than
strangers.
The servant took meticulous care of Ashley. Thinking about Felix’s previous behavior left me feeling utterly helpless.
Just when I thought life would continue peacefully this way, Felix found me.
He stood at my door in tattered clothes, looking disheveled.

After seeing the photos, Felix knelt on the ground, speechless.

I thought you were planning to take me on a trip, but instead you took Kelly to Emerfield. And me? I was alone in the hospital, unable to sleep because of abdominal pain, until finally a nurse took pity on me and accompanied me to get examined!““At that time, you were off on a sweet vacation with Kelly. “Felix, I gave up my family fortune to support your ambitions. What am I to you? If you loved Kelly all along, why did you marry me? Why did you let me get pregnant? Wasn’t what you did cruel to me?”
I thought I could speak these words calmly, but in reality, I was still crying.

Recalling these painful memories made my voice hoarse and my heart ache.
Felix raised his head, his voice breaking, with emotion, “Harper, I’m sorry, I only fell in love with Kelly because I was young and foolish. Now I finally realize it’s you I love. Can you forgive me and give me one more chance?”
Seeing the once–proud Felix begging me so pitifully, I couldn’t help but smile bitterly and say, “Felix, I can’t give you that chance anymore.”
Felix said, “Why? Harper, you still love me, don’t you? If you just give me one chance, I’ll love you so, so much.”
I shook my head and said, “No, Felix. I don’t love you anymore.”
Felix looked at me with disappointed eyes and said, “Impossible! Harper! You can’t not love me!”
Felix gripped my shoulders tightly, shaking me forcefully, his eyes wild with desperation. “You can’t not love me…”
Seeing Felix in such a manic state, I took out my phone and called the police.
A few days later, in Trevias, I received divorce papers along with a suicide note.

I learned from my friends in China that Felix had refused to marry Kelly, Kelly, like a madwoman, had found every possible way to torment him, not only making Felix’s parents‘ lives miserable but also causing Felix to lose his job.
Unable to endure her torment any longer, Felix chose to take his own life.
As I read the heartfelt words in Felix’s suicide note, I
remembered our college days when Felix approached me with a bouquet of flowers and sincerely asked, “Harper, will you be my girlfriend?”
