Chapter 7 Leaving

That day, Ashley spit up milk. While I contacted the doctor and consulted medical books, Felix continuously comforted Ashley. He said, “Harper, thank you. I never realized how exhausting it is to care for a baby. From now on, I’ll take good care of you and Ashley, and never let either of you suffer.“Just then, Felix’s phone rang. After seeing the caller ID, Felix gave me a guilty glance and declined the call.
I suspected it was Kelly calling.
Shortly after Felix hung up, his phone rang again.
I gathered Ashley from Felix’s arms and said, “The caller might have something important. Why don’t you answer it first?”
With that, I carried the baby out of the room.
Felix breathed a sigh of relief.
When I returned, I heard Kelly’s urgent voice coming from Felix’s phone.
“Felix, you clearly love me, so why are you treating me this way
now?”
“Stop knocking! I won’t open the door for you! Go away.”
Felix asked, “Kelly, what’s happening? Who’s knocking at your
Chapter 7 Leaving door? What’s wrong?”

Kelly said, “Feliz, this is all your fault! If I hadn’t fallen in love with you and broken up with Scott, he wouldn’t be harassing me like this every day! I broke up with him! You promised to marry me!”
I knew Kelly’s ex–boyfriend Scott Hall. Scott was furious about Kelly’s betrayal. If Kelly hadn’t moved away, Scott would certainly have wanted to kill her.
The sound of Scott pounding heavily on the door came through the phone. Felix’s face drained of color as panic set in, and he said to me trembling, “Harper, I’m sorry…”
I gave Felix an icy stare and said, “Felix, our child is sick.”
I won’t deny that I still hoped Felix would choose me and Ashley.
To my surprise, Felix started getting dressed while saying, “Harper, Kelly is in danger! I have to go check on her, after all, this situation is my fault.”
I asked, “Do you really have to go?”
Felix turned around and said seriously, “Harper, Kelly is a young woman, and no one but me can help her.”
“You’re both women, you should understand her, be
sympathetic. I promised not to contact her anymore, but I can’t leave her in danger, can I?”

I didn’t stop him again. Instead, I took Ashley to the nearest hospital myself.
I realized it was time for me to take over the management of the Wilson Group.
The next day, I left the divorce papers I had prepared on the bedside table, took Ashley, and left to take on the Wilson Group’s new project in Trevias.
My phone received a message from Kelly: [Ms. Wilson, you lost.]
[Even if you have a child together, Felix will eventually come back to me.]
[He enjoys being with me. You should divorce him sooner rather than later and let him go.]
I never thought I would win this bet; I just wanted to use it as a reason to divorce Felix.
I took screenshots of the chat history and sent them to Felix, then blocked all his contact information and left with my luggage.
