Chapter 394
“Shut your mouth, or get the hell out of here,” Logan roared angrily.
Logan thought, ‘If she weren’t Audrey’s birth mother, I wouldn’t have brought her here in the first place. If she can’t say anything nice, she should just keep her mouth shut. All this random nonsense is downright annoying!
Lucia felt utterly wronged, fuming inside, ‘How could he berate me right in front of his ex–wife and the younger generation? He’s grinding my dignity into
the dirt.‘
But she was truly terrified of Yann and didn’t dare linger for even a second. She quickly scurried over and sat down beside Logan.
Amelia reached out to comfort Yann but, noticing his sterile gown, withdrew her hand. “Go check on Audrey first,” she urged her son.
Yann shifted his fierce glare away from Lucia, nodded, and entered the prep room.
Audrey was doing well. The doctor–a longtime friend of Quentin–asked the family whether they preferred a natural birth or a C–section.
Yann wanted to spare Audrey the pain and immediately opted for a C–section.
Of course, the final decision would ultimately be up to her.
If it were just a single baby, Audrey would have preferred a natural birth. But with triplets, she felt hesitant.
Even though the doctor said everything looked good, she couldn’t help but worry–what if something went wrong?
Ultimately, she opted for a C–section.
As soon as Yann stepped out of the delivery room, Amelia stopped him at the door. “How’s Audrey?”
“They’re prepping for a C–section,” he replied.
“A C–section will leave a scar,” Lucia muttered under her breath. Logan shot her a glare, but she retorted, “All women care about their looks. Wearing swimsuits would be terrible. I had a natural birth back then.”
“How dare you compare yourself to Audrey?” Logan hissed.
He thought, “You had one baby, but she’s having triplets.”
Lucia’s eyes flashed with venom, her face contorting in barely suppressed rage.
She’d always burned with jealousy ever since Audrey married Yann and gained more influence than she had. Hearing this remark sent her into an even
greater rage.
Lucia seethed inwardly. ‘Logan is absolutely looking down on me.
‘We’re both women, both in our second marriages, so what makes Audrey act so high and mighty?
‘No matter how superior she thinks she is, I gave her life.‘
Lucia seethed with resentment. She couldn’t stand anyone right now, but it was Amelia, pacing anxiously outside the delivery room, who irritated her the most.
Lucia thought bitterly, ‘Her real mother is standing right here. What’s she doing putting on that act?
‘How dare she slap me in front of everyone! She’s just putting on a show, acting like she’s so capable and actually cares about Audrey.
‘If she could really ruin people just by badmouthing them, why not send her off to be a voodoo priestess? No need to send a single soldier—just let her

curse the enemy, and we’d win every battle and save a fortune.
‘Like that would work? Triplets are risky to begin with. If they were so worried about complications, why didn’t they opt for selective reduction Back
then?‘
Lucia stewed in her bitter thoughts, but not a soul bothered with her.
Quentin told Yann to change out of the uncomfortable sterile gown, but Yann stood rooted to the spot outside the delivery room, like a man possessed
Anyone who dared touch him would get a punch thrown their way.
Keith took a sharp elbow to the ribs but swallowed his pained gasp. Not daring to make a sound, he quietly found a seat and waited.
“Don’t worry,” Quentin whispered reassuringly. “The team is full of OB–GYN specialists. Everything will be fine.”
Yann remained unresponsive–it was impossible to tell if he’d even registered the words.
Owen urged Amelia, “Take a seat and wait. The surgery will take a while. You’ll need your strength to help look after Audrey once the baby is born.”
Amelia considered coaxing Yann to sit down for a while, but after one glance at his rigid posture, she thought better of it.
She sat beside Richard, who instinctively took her hand in his with a reassuring squeeze. “It’s going to be okay.”
“Audrey is so much tougher than I was,” Amelia said, her eyes reddening. “Back then, I couldn’t even make it to the hospital before the pain became unbearable.
“But when Audrey went in, I saw her tears. She was biting back the pain without a sound.”
Logan sat across from them, watching their clasped hands, a pang of bitterness twisting in his gut.
Amelia worked right up until labor, so she wasn’t delicate at all. But calling her tough? She was screaming loudly from the pain.
When Logan went in with her during delivery, she slapped him multiple times. She even cursed terribly.
“Don’t worry, Audrey will be fine.” Richard reassured her.
“Of course. If anything happens to Audrey, I swear I’ll make her pay.” Amelia shot Lucia a venomous glare.
Lucia saw red when she caught her husband staring at Amelia and her new husband.
Lucia said, “I’m her birth mother. Of course I want the best for her. If she can smoothly give birth to a boy, she’ll be the Winifred family’s heroine and want for nothing for the rest of her life. Why would I ever wish her harm?”
Amelia snapped angrily, “Are you even listening to yourself? Whether it’s a boy or a girl, Audrey is Yann’s wife. Even without children, she’ll still want for nothing for the rest of her life.”
Richard gave Amelia’s hand a firm squeeze, thinking, ‘Why bother arguing with her?
‘For someone so selfish and status–obsessed, just strike at her Achilles‘ heel.‘
Amelia thought, ‘I’m just so furious. How could Audrey have such a clueless mother?‘
Owen stood aside, gazing down at Lucia with cold superiority.
Lucia thought they were completely overstepping their boundaries. But Owen and Richard were clearly standing up for Amelia.
Meanwhile, her own husband couldn’t take his eyes off his ex–wife, and Yann looked like he wished she were dead. Outnumbered and fighting a losing battle, Lucia decided it was best to just keep her mouth shut.

Just then, Lucia’s phone rang. She stepped away to answer it. It was another call about her property in Westmoor Heights.
After viewing the property with her son, Marla couldn’t wait to tell her close friends that she met a benefactor who helped her buy a well–designed unit in Westmoor Heights at below the inflated market price.
Now, a new buyer contacted Lucia, offering 700 thousand dollars more than Marla’s offer. Lucia’s eyes instantly lit up.
She thought, calculating gleefully, ‘The new buyer sounds genuinely interested. If I take their money and return Marla’s deposit, I’ll still make a tidy profit.
‘The only catch is, they want to see the apartment right away.
‘Triplets usually take a while to deliver anyway.’
Lucia made up her mind, walked over to Logan, bent down, and whispered, “Audrey won’t be delivering soon. I’ll head home and make her something to eat. She can eat it after the babies are born.”
Logan frowned and nodded, clearly eager for her to leave.
The longer she lingered and made pointless comments, the more irritated he felt.
Lucia’s eyes lit up as she rushed downstairs.
Amelia cast Lucia a sidelong glance but chose not to comment.
The surgery went smoothly. Just over an hour later, a nurse came out. “Is Audrey’s family here?”
“Yeah.” Seeing Yann remained frozen by the door, Amelia hurried over and said, “Audrey is my son’s wife.”
“Congratulations, two boys and a girl,” the nurse announced.
Each boy weighed about 4 pounds, and the little girl was just under that. That was perfectly normal for triplets.
“Thank heavens,” Amelia exclaimed, clasping her hands together in gratitude.
Yann ignored the newborns and demanded urgently, “How’s my wife?”
“The procedure went perfectly. She’ll be back in her room after two hours of monitoring,” the nurse said.
Logan’s face lit up with joy, and he immediately called Margot to share the good news.
Amelia also tried to share the good news with Cecilia. Unfortunately, Cecilia’s phone was out of service, so Amelia had to send her a text message
instead.
Amelia thought, ‘I finally won. With two grandsons and a granddaughter at once, I’ve completely outmatched her with an overwhelming advantage.”
Moments later, the babies were brought out. As Logan wheeled himself over, Amelia had already cradled one in her arms. Quentin and Keith practically scrambled for the others, each securing a baby.
Logan complained inwardly, ‘I’m their grandpa, but I didn’t even get a glimpse of the babies.’
Yann didn’t even glance at his children. His eyes were glued to the crack in the door, peering inside at his wife.
