Chapter 392
“No, I didn’t. I never touched any of that stuff.” Lucia grabbed Logan desperately. “Logan, I swear, I really didn’t touch any of it.”
“If swearing actually worked, we wouldn’t need the police at all,” Audrey sneered, fully
aware that Lucia didn’t have the guts to touch those things.
But Audrey was determined to pressure Lucia, forcing either her or Jenna to spill the beans.
Lucia snapped at Audrey, “Damn brat, stop butting in.”
“Hugo, take her to the police station,” Yann ordered with a frosty expression.
‘How dare she talk back to my wife?‘ Yann thought.
“Madam…” Jenna cried out, her face as white as a sheet as she clutched Lucia’s arm in terror.
Lucia had spoken before she thought, and now she was terrified.
She was at Audrey’s home. Audrey was the apple of Yann’s eye, and offending Audrey meant offending Yann.
“Yann, this is just a family matter. There’s no need to call the police,” Lucia said urgently.
“My wife is in charge of all household affairs. If anything goes missing, she has every right to deal with it as she sees fit,” Yann replied.
“Those things weren’t lost. I took them,” Lucia replied.
“When did you take them? What exactly did you take?”
“Didn’t Eden record everything?” Lucia blurted out.
“Madam! Madam!” Jenna screamed in desperation.
Jenna was already being dragged out by Hugo. Desperate, she clung to the doorframe with all her strength, screaming at the top of her lungs.
Hugo was just going through the motions. If Hugo really used his strength, he could dislocate Jenna’s arm.
“Logan, if our family matters end up at the police, people will gossip.” Lucia was anxious.
Logan said coldly, “Either you come clean about what you’ve done with the money, or Jenna gets investigated. Whatever happens next is on you.”
“I swear I never touched any of that stuff. Please, you’ve got to believe me,” Lucia said.
Seeing Lucia still wouldn’t talk, Hugo simply and forcibly pried Jenna’s fingers from the doorframe.
“Ah! Okay, I’ll talk. I know where the money went,” Jessa blurted out in a panic.
“Jenna!” Lucia cried out, her voice cracking with panic. Her eyes burned with a vicious warning.
Crying, Jenna looked desperately at Logan, no longer caring about anything else. “Sir, I’ll talk. I’ll tell you everything. Please don’t blame me–it was really Madam who told me to sell off those things.was just following her orders.”
“Shut up!” Lucia finally snapped, unable to maintain her virtuous and gentle persona any longer. Like a madwoman, she lunged at Jenna and clamped her hand tightly over her mouth.
Lucia screamed in her mind, panic and rage overwhelming her, ‘Shut the fuck up! It’s not a crime even if we go to the police station. What is she so afraid of?‘
Jenna ignored her completely, thinking, “If Sir doesn’t hold Madam accountable, he’ll definitely fire me. With a record of stealing from the employer who

would dare hire me again? Maybe I’ll even end up in jail.‘
Jenna sank her teeth hard into Lucia’s finger. Lucia yelped in pain and jerked her hand back.
Jenna blurted out, “Madam sold off all those gifts and gave every penny to her nephew.”
“Nephew?” Audrey sneered. “My mother has no siblings, so how could she have a nephew? Or is this ‘nephew‘ just your toy boy?”
“Shut your mouth,” Lucia whirled around and roared at Audrey.
Inwardly, she fumed, ‘Must you keep running your mouth, you little brat?‘
Logan pinched his forehead, thinking, ‘Just as I suspected. I’ve been betrayed.’
Logan gestured to Hugo to let go of Jenna. Hugo looked to Audrey for approval and only stepped back after she nodded.
Jenna stopped struggling and screaming, then stood quietly to the side, silent and resigned.
Jenna thought, “If Madam still refuses to confess, I’ll just keep exposing the truth.”
Lucia shot a panicked glance at Audrey, then rushed to Logan, reaching for his arm. She pleaded, “Logan, let’s talk at home, okay? I swear I’ve never betrayed you. Please believe me.”
Logan agreed. But instead of taking Lucia back to Winifred Manor, he brought her to a dilapidated old apartment in a run–down neighborhood.
“Logan, where are we?” Lucia said nervously, her heart pounding. “Let’s go home, please.”
Logan’s wheelchair came to a halt in the cramped living room. He raised a hand and gestured toward the sofa draped in a dusty sheet.
Lucia didn’t sit down. Instead, she took a couple of uneasy steps forward and pleaded, “Logan, this place gives me the creeps. Can we please just go
home and talk?”
Logan said, “This is where you live now.”
“What?” Lucia’s jaw nearly dropped.
Lucia wondered, ‘Wait, is he really not letting her go back to the manor and leaving me here?
‘The house is barely 850 square feet–old, shabby, and reeking of musty dust. I’m not gonna
live here.‘
“Logan, you must be kidding. How could anyone live in this dump?” Lucia protested.
Logan showed no intention of explaining. Maneuvering his wheelchair, he headed straight out.
Jenna had already been taken away, leaving Lucia completely alone. No matter how pitifully she begged or how submissively she pleaded, it was all in
vain.
Lucia surveyed the shabby furniture with utter contempt, thinking, ‘No way I’m living in this dump.‘
She took a taxi to the nearest five–star hotel and booked an executive suite. But when she tried to pay at check–in, the receptionist coldly informed her, “Sorry, your card was declined.”
She tried card after card, but none worked.
She thought bitterly, ‘Logan actually froze all my cards? This is unacceptable.‘
Lucia frantically hailed a taxi back home, only to find herself locked out–the keypad lock had already been changed.
She used the intercom to call the house, and it was Jerry–temporarily filling in for Eden–who came out.

Jerry said, “Madam, Mr. Logan Winifred requests that you go back and give it some serious thought. You can return once you have figured out how to explain yourself to him. Otherwise, he will proceed with drafting the divorce papers.”
‘Divorce?‘ Lucia’s mind reeled. ‘All I did I was sell off a few unwanted gifts, and he wants to divorce me over that? Seriously?
‘With all the money Logan has, he could loaf around for the rest of his life and still never spend it all. Why does he have to be so petty about every little
thing?”
‘Those measly gifts were barely worth anything, and he wants a divorce over this?‘
But judging from Jerry’s firm attitude, Lucia could tell Logan was dead serious this time. She didn’t dare make another scene.
Back in that shabby apartment, Lucia placed all the blame squarely on Audrey.
Lucia thought bitterly, ‘It’s all her fault–she just wouldn’t stop interrupting and butting in.
‘Otherwise, if I had just properly explained everything to Logan, how could things have come to this?
‘That damn brat! She just can’t stand to see me happy.’
www.
Grumbling and cursing under her breath, Lucia endured a miserable night on the sofa. At dawn, she set off straight for Hillcrest Gardens.
She thought, ‘It’s all Audrey’s fault that my cards got frozen. I’ll just go crash at her house and eat there.”
Unfortunately, she had barely gotten downstairs when her phone rang–it was Kyle, pressing her to bring the money right away.
Kyle said, “If you can’t get 300 thousand dollars, then give me 150 thousand dollars for now.”
Lucia replied, “My cards are frozen. Even if they weren’t, I don’t have 150 thousand dollars to give you. I really don’t have the money now. No use pushing me like this.”
Kyle didn’t buy her excuse. “The other day, my dad ran into Audrey on the street. Do you really want me to go have a word with her?”
“When did that happen?” Lucia blurted out, a cold sweat breaking out down her back.
“My dad’s changed quite a bit these past two years. He told her he was my uncle, but Audrey didn’t recognize him. How about I go talk to her myself and tell her the real story about how George ‘fell‘ from that building?”
“Don’t! Please, don’t!” Lucia cried out, panic in her voice.
Lucia’s hand clutching the phone was slick with sweat. She desperately licked her lips and pleaded, “I’ll get the money now. Just give me time. You’ll have it the moment I do.”
Kyle’s voice turned sharp. “You’ve got 24 hours. If I don’t get the money by tonight, I’ll spill everything to Audrey Senior.”
Kyle barely knew Audrey. He only remembered that George’s daughter was called Audrey Senior. He had no idea she later changed her name to Audrey Henderson, let alone that she now went by Audrey Winifred.
