Chapter 387
Logan remained seated in his usual spot, but the prized Fabergé egg was no longer before him.
Lucia’s complexion improved slightly as she exchanged a quick, knowing glance with Jenna.
Lucia thought with relief, ‘It was just a false alarm. If Logan really cared about that Fabergé egg, he wouldn’t have left it in storage all this time. Ho probably doesn’t even remember it exists.‘
“I took my meds and feel much better now,” Lucia explained unprompted, raising a hand to her forehead for effect. Jenna immediately moved to support her, playing along with her employer’s act of weakness.
Logan kept his head down, phone in hand, listening as she spoke. Then he looked up.
He noticed Lucia looked even worse than before. But since she claimed to feel better, he simply took her word for it without much concern.
Logan asked, “So, the investment you mentioned–was it Vivian who invited you to join?”
Lucia hesitated, then gave a vague nod. “Uh… Well, sort of.”
Logan raised his phone. “I just called Russell.”
Lucia, who had just breathed a sigh of relief, suddenly felt the air being sucked from her lungs again.
Jenna thought anxiously, “I really can’t help with this. I’m completely in the dark.”
Russell was genuinely surprised when Logan brought it up.
Vivian always confided in her husband. After being misled by Lucia last time and nearly incurring Yann’s displeasure over a conflict with Audrey, Vivian had since kept her distance from Lucia.
Vivian hadn’t even invited Lucia to their granddaughter’s party. Out of courtesy to Audrey, a polite exchange might happen, but inviting Lucia to invest was absolutely out of the question.
So when Logan asked about the investment, Russell assumed Lucia was trying to get close to his wife. Out of respect for Logan, Russell couldn’t refuse
directly.
Still, Russell chose his words carefully. “Vivian is rather fickle. If anything goes wrong, please don’t hold it against her.”
Logan understood immediately that Vivian had never invited Lycia. Russel meant if Lucia insisted on joining in, that was her own decision, but Vivian was known for her fleeting enthusiasms. If the investment failed, she shouldn’t be blamed.
“W–What did he say?” Lucia stammered, her lips trembling.
Logan fixed her with an unwavering stare.
A chill ran down Lucia’s spine under his gaze. Distracted, she missed a step on the staircase and was about to fall. Thankfully, Jenna grabbed her firmly
Lucia thought desperately, ‘I’m from the frying pan into the fire. Will I even survive today?‘
Logan waved his hand toward the sofa. Lucia fought to steady her trembling legs as she slowly sat down.
“You seriously want to invest?” Logan asked.
“Well, not exactly… It’s just… you know… um..” Lucia stammered, a hint of self–mockery in her voice.
She hesitated for ages before finally managing a full sentence. “Audrey has her own career. I just can’t be so incompetent that I embarrass her.

Logan nodded thoughtfully. “Audrey is indeed impressive.
Although Stridevestment was assembled by Yan, Audrey had proven herself capable of thought she was a natural leader.
Logan recalled the Smart Tech Expo. Audrey anticipated Tafia’s actions, prepared countermeasure she turned the tables brilliantly.

Logan continued, “Vivian has extensive social connections. If you want to network with her, you died in denenatiala pouch worth figure postult, akit re invest in you.”
Lucia thought, “If I can’t prove my worth, then Logan just won’t give me any money?
‘Shouldn’t it be that he gives me the money first, and if I make profits, that proves my satus? flow at supposed to prvi pling l’ha dedit die d the money in the first place?‘
Though Lucia was far from happy about it, at least Logan wasn’t grilling her about the Faberge egg. She finally tad, fine, I get
A maid came to ask Jenna about the dinner preparations. After seeking Lucia’s permission, Jenna headed to the kitchen che from inside.
“Hi, Eden.” Jenna greeted respectfully, stepping aside.
Eden brushed past her, clutching something in his hands. Jenna tried to get a better look but was called into the kitchen beford
“By the way,” Logan said as he spotted Eden, then turned to Lucia, “go bring out the Fabergé egg I received for my birthday.”
“What egg?” Lucia looked up and, seeing Eden holding the Fabergé egg, felt her heart skip a beat.
“Fabergé egg,” Logan replied, taking the stuff from Eden. “The Fabergé egg with the same pattern as this one.”
Lucia felt all the air being sucked from the room. Her lungs burned from oxygen deprivation.
She could see Logan’s lips moving but couldn’t hear a word he was saying.
“Madam? Madam?” Eden stepped closer, raising his voice. “Madam!”
“Huh?” Lucia snapped back to her senses, her face drained of all color.
She thought, ‘It’s over. The moment I dreaded has finally come. What should I do?‘
“What are you waiting for?” Logan carefully wiped the egg, not noticing anything off about Lucia. When she didn’t respond, he urged her again.
Lucia seemed rooted to the sofa. She couldn’t get up. Her legs had turned to jelly.
“Madam, are you feeling unwell?” Eden asked, his tone laced with something peculiar.
Only then did Logan look over. He saw Lucia practically collapse into the sofa, her hands clutching the armrests firmly, digging in so hard that she’d left
white marks.
Logan frowned and thought, ‘What kind of illness comes and goes like this?‘
He said, “Eden, call the family doctor.”
“Yes, sir.” Eden quickly made the call and returned. “The doctor will arrive soon. He advises Madam not to move. If you could give me the key to the storage room, I’ll get the Fabergé egg.”
Lucia swallowed hard/trying to speak, but her throat felt like it was being strangled.

Chapter 387
Jenna came out to call everyone to dinner, but when she spotted the Fabergé egg on the table from afar, she quickly ducked stound the ver
“If Madam blames me, I’ll just spill everything.” Jenna thought.
Lucia caught sight of Jenna out of the corner of her eye. She thought if Jenna went back to the kitchen, she would really pin the blame on Jenes. Unfortunately, Jenna stayed put around the corner, waiting to hear her response.
“Madam, may I have the key to the storage room?” Eden pressed, seemingly oblivious to her discomfort.
“If you’re not feeling well, just give it to Eden,” Logan commanded.
Lucia struggled to keep her composure. “The key… I left it in the painting room.”
“Eden, go get it upstairs,” Logan said.
Eden glanced at tucia, turned toward the staircase, but stopped abruptly at the landing.
“Madam, your bag with the keys is by the front entrance,” he said. With that, he turned around and headed for the entrance hall
“No.” Lucia erupted like a scalded cat, leaping from the sofa and lunging at Eden.
Just as Eden picked up the bag, Lucia violently shoved him.
Caught off guard, Eden crashed headfirst into the sharp edge of the cabinet. A gash split open on his forehead, and blood gushed from the wound
“Eden.” Logan heaved himself up from the sofa, struggling toward his wheelchair.
The family doctor arrived in no time. Seeing blood streaming down Eden’s face, he rushed over to tend to the wound.
Logan wheeled his chair directly in front of Lucia, his face dark with fury. “Give me the key.”
