Clayton never expected Wyatt to hit him suddenly and was knocked to the ground by the punch.
Lillian screamed and grabbed Wyatt, who wanted to keep beating Clayton. “I asked him to come here. Don’t hit him. You couldn’t get in touch with mley. and I was worried, so I asked Clayton to help me look for her.”
While Lillian tightly held Wyatt’s arm, Alexa picked up a flashlight from the table and smashed it onto Clayton, shouting, “You shameless bastard
Lillian was terrified and wanted to stop Alexa, but if she let go, Wyatt would continue beating Clayton. Since Wyatt was much stronger than Alexa, the could only keep holding Wyatt and pray that Alexa would calm down after hitting Clayton.
Although Alexa didn’t have much strength, she threw everything she could reach at Clayton.
Clayton fled around from the beating. He didn’t understand why when Lillian had asked him to help find the missing Riley, Wyatt, and Alexa not only weren’t grateful but even wanted to beat him.
Wyatt had been transferred to a department with no gray income because he insisted on causing trouble for Audrey. Clayton had warned him not to do it, but he hadn’t listened. Alexa was even more unreasonable.
“Stop!” Clayton was ill but still stronger than Alexa. After taking the beating for a while, he grabbed Alexa’s hand and said, “I came to help, but if you don’t want me to, I’ll go back. Mom, I’ll wait for you outside.”
Then, he shook off Alexa and turned to leave.
Alexa cried out of anger and panic. She picked up a stool and threw it at Clayton’s back. “You bastard!”
Lillian’s eyes widened in horror. If the stool hit Clayton, things would be troublesome. She screamed, “Clayton!”
Clayton felt a strong force behind him push him aside, followed by the sound of something heavy falling and Wyatt’s cry. “Mom!”
Alexa was stunned. She hadn’t expected Lillian to suddenly rush over to take the blow for Clayton. By the time Alexa saw Lillian, she couldn’t stop her strength.
Although she tried to avoid Lillian, the stool leg still struck Lillian’s back, and instantly, blood poured from her back.
“Mom, what are you doing?” Wyatt was angry and annoyed, trying to help Lillian up, but she stepped away.
Lillian cried out, “I want to ask what you two are doing! Clayton wronged you in the past, but he knows he was wrong. He’s your own brother. How can you be so heartless?”
“Riley is missing, and I’m worried. Clayton is too. I know you don’t want to see him, but finding Riley is the most important thing now. With more people, there’s more help. Can’t you settle things with Clayton after finding Riley?” She continued.
Clayton got up and helped Lillian up from the ground.
Lillian’s face twisted in pain, and she couldn’t straighten her back. She glared at Alexa and said, “Did you want to kill Clayton?”
“Yes, I did!” Alexa shouted hoarsely. “I regret not killing him earlier, so my family wouldn’t have been torn apart by him.”
Lillian trembled with anger, pointing at Alexa’s nose, unable to speak for a long time.
There were two security guards in the security room, shocked by their sudden fight. They reacted now and said, “Are you here to find the missing girl or
cause trouble?”
“W–we want to find her.” Lillian let Clayton help her over. “Any news about her?”
“Riley is going to be killed by him.” Alexa glared fiercely at Clayton as if wanting to tear him apart. “This self–righteous jerk broke up his own family and

Wyatt was very annoyed. He grabbed Lillian’s hand, ignoring her back pain, and pulled her directly to the surveillance screen, then said to the secure guard, “Play it again.”
The security guard played the video again. The position where Riley climbed over the school wall happened to be under a surveillance camera, cleart capturing her leaving the school.
Because the fence was high, someone from outside handed her bricks to step on. That person was none other than Valerie.
“Didn’t you say she was in a hospital in Ashbourne? Didn’t you say she committed a crime in Ashbourne and was on probation, not allowed to leave the area, and would never appear in front of us again? Who is this?” Wyatt glared at Clayton.
Lillian had always wanted to ease the tense relationship between Wyatt and Clayton. After all, they were her two sons.
Clayton also wanted to reconcile with Wyatt. He knew Alexa hated Valerie very much, so he described Valerie’s situation in Ashbourne as very miserable.
Although they hadn’t divorced, Valerie was semi–paralyzed in the hospital due to alcohol poisoning, which she deserved.
Wyatt and Alexa hadn’t forgiven Clayton, but they hadn’t opposed Lillian visiting him either.
Lillian had a pension, most of which she gave to Wyatt as her living expenses, and the rest, which Wyatt had no right to control, she gave to Clayton.
But what happened today had betrayed their trust and sympathy for Clayton. They hadn’t expected Clayton to have lied to them.
After Lillian saw the person in the surveillance clearly, she turned to look at Clayton in disbelief. “You brought her back? You lied to us?”
“No, I didn’t bring her back!” Clayton was afraid they had misidentified the person and asked the security guard to play the surveillance again to confirm it was Valerie.
The places where Alexa had hit him began to hurt, and so did his heart. Valerie was like a nightmare he couldn’t drive away. He had thought Valerie’s phone call was just a threat, but he hadn’t expected her to have escaped from the hospital.
“I need to make a call.” Clayton walked out of the security room and called Hardy.
Hardy was live–streaming, so Edward answered the phone and truthfully told him about Valerie. “She was making a scene in the hospital, and we couldn’t detain her by force. Hardy gave her 300 dollars as a favor to Luna. Why, did something happen to her?”
After hearing this, Clayton couldn’t help but blame Hardy for letting Valerie leave the hospital and giving her money.
But he had no right to complain. Without Hardy, he couldn’t have taken care of Valerie and Luna and earned money at the same time.
“It’s okay, thanks. Please help me thank Mr. Cruz.” Clayton said.
After he hung up, Wyatt and Alexa came out of the security room. “Call Valerie and tell her to send my daughter back immediately, or I’ll call the police.”
Clayton didn’t dare to say anything else, and this wasn’t the time to explain. He could only contact Valerie.
“Are you crazy? Send Riley back to school right now.” Clayton warned harshly, “You’re on probation and not allowed to leave Ashbourne. If Wyatt calls the police, the prison will punish you severely.”
It was quiet on Valerie’s end. She said indifferently, “You know I have a sexually transmitted disease. If Wyatt dares to call the police, I’ll infect Riley with
it.”
