Chapter 305
Chapter 305
Inside the wedding car, Yann finally tightened his grip on Audrey’s hand. “That was chaos.”
“But everyone had fun,” Audrey said, glancing out the window where Owen was swapping boutonnieres with Miles. “Miles is your groomsmant
“Mm.” Yann nodded.
Keith had pleaded for Talia’s sake earlier, and Yann didn’t want Audrey’s mood spoiled by his presence, so he had assigned him to venue logistics
instead.
Quentin and Hardy were both unmarried, but they were unsuitable for other reasons.
Audrey nodded, then frowned and thought, ‘Quentin has a son. And Hardy… Never mind. Today is our day. No gossip.
Clayton stood rigid at the entrance, his gaze hollow, fixed on some distant point.
Every passing guest gushed about Audrey’s fairytale match and Yann’s brilliance, devotion, and loyalty. Each word drove another nail into Clayton’s chest until even breathing felt like swallowing glass.
Uncontrollably, memories flooded his mind–his own words from the time they divorced. “Getting a divorce from me? Who else do you think you’ll find?”
“You’ll slink back to your hometown and marry some nobody?”
“All that hustling to stay in Ironhaven just to end up in a divorce?”
“You’ll regret this.”
Clayton thought bitterly, ‘Regret? Audrey married a man a hundred times my worth, living a life others only dreamed of. If anything, she might only regret not dumping me sooner.‘
A voice suddenly shouted nearby, “Straighten that painting a little! Hey…”
Clayton staggered slightly as someone shoved him. He turned slowly.
“Move this display over here.” Lucia pointed toward one side.
Clayton stared blankly at her. He had always assumed Audrey was an orphan until recent news revealed her mother had married Yann’s father.
“You’re… Audrey’s mother?” Clayton asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.
Lucia eyed his lanky frame and thought, ‘They hired someone this scrawny for security?‘
“I’m Clayton Patel. Audrey’s ex–husband.” Clayton introduced himself.
Lucia’s finger froze mid–air. “You… You’re a lawyer in fronhaven. Why are you here?”
Clayton gave a bitter laugh, swiping a hand over his face and discreetly wiping his eyes. “Madam, may I ask you something?”
Knowing today’s event couldn’t afford a scandal, Lucia dragged him behind a pillar. “Make it quick.”
“Did Audrey know Yann before?” Clayton asked directly.
He thought, ‘Audrey never mentioned Yann. She wouldn’t move on this fast unless something was already there. Maybe they were involved during our marriage.

As the thought took root, Clayton’s pale face flushed slightly with anger.
Lucia’s gaze had been scanning the crowd, but now she fixed him with a glare. “You are here to ruin my daughter’s wedding?”
“No.” Clayton shook his head. “I just happened to be working. I wanted to understand the truth.”
Lucia rolled her eyes at him. She thought, ‘Happened to be here? You expect me to buy that? Ashbourne is a big city. You, an Ironhaven lawyer, just happen to have a security gig at their wedding?‘
She knew nothing of Clayton’s recent struggles. To her, he was just another bitter ex coming to stir drama.
She snorted, “I know Audrey. She would never two–time anyone. She married you, and she meant it. The only reason she divorced you was because you
hurt her.”
Clayton wanted to say something, but Lucia cut him off. “What’s past is past. If Audrey has moved on, I won’t dredge it up. But if you harass her?” Her smile turned cold. “Try me.”
Her love for Audrey was complicated. Not absent, but secondary to her survival. Life was short, and she wasn’t going to live it for others. In this world, she either climbed or got trampled. Anyone threatening Audrey’s stability threatened her foothold in the Winifred family.
“Get lost.” Spotting a wealthy lady approaching, Lucia brightened and swept past Clayton.
Clayton’s stomach lurched. He gagged, swallowing bile, then retreated to the shadows. He would stay and witness Audrey’s happiness.
The wedding procession had arrived at Hillcrest Gardens, where Logan and Amelia sat waiting on a sofa for formal family photos with the newlyweds.
After the brief session, they all headed to the main venue.
As celebratory cannons rang out, guests spilled out to witness the ceremony.
Clayton tried to push forward, only for someone to clamp a hand over his mouth and drag him into the shadows. By the time he regained consciousness, the ceremony was nearly over.
Unaware of the disturbance, Yann and Audrey carried on with the wedding. Everything went on as planned.
Logan’s expression darkened when he spotted Lucia mingling with guests, but Amelia remained unfazed. She had never considered Lucia a threat.
“Audrey invited me,” Lucia hurriedly explained to Logan during a lull.
Logan didn’t respond, silently relieved they had taken photos at Hillcrest Gardens without Lucia. The thought of her sharing the ceremonial stage with them was unbearable.
Post–ceremony, Yann guided Audrey to the bridal suite to change. Lucia finally noticed the omission and asked Logan, “Why haven’t we taken the family photos yet?”
Logan walked away without answering, busying himself with guests.
Lucia hurriedly made her way to the bridal suite
Audrey had changed into a red dress, and Yann was helping her adjust her outfit, his gaze lingering a beat too long on her breasts. It seemed like they had gotten even fuller.
Audrey playfully covered his eyes.

Yann smirked, sliding a hand over her abdomen. “Rest a bit before heading back out.”
Lucia entered just in time to see the scene. Though the dress was loose, Audrey’s fuller figure was undeniable.
“Audrey, what’s wrong with the schedule? Why haven’t we taken parent–newlyweds photos yet?” Lucia needed that visual proof of legitimacy. Without it, her presence was meaningless.
Before Audrey could respond, Yann said, “We streamlined things. Audrey is fatigued.”
“Fatigued? She has gained weight since returning!” Lucia prodded Audrey’s waist. “Are you trying for a baby?”
