Genevieve’s Point of View
Enzo faced me with a pleading expression.}
“Babygirl, can you trust me just this once?” he asked.
“Why can’t he say it in front of me? I want to know who’s after my life,” I argued.
“I will tell you once we get home. I just want to confirm something privately with him,” he explained.
I wanted to argue. I wanted to stay and hear who was intending to kill me, but we’d just talked about trust, and I shouldn’t start doubting him because of this.
“Okay,” I said and went out. I met Cora outside; she rushed after me as I stormed toward the direction of the children’s playground.
Third Person’s Point of View
“Speak! Who was it?” Enzo asked after he made sure Genevieve was out of hearing.“]
“It’s your father, sir.”
Enzo clenched his jaw, his eyes darkened, and the anger brewing in him could set the orphanage ablaze.
“Don’t tell my wife about this, no matter how hard she pressures you!” he said.
“Yes, boss.”
Just as the man was about to leave, Enzo called him back.
“One more thing, Felix–increase her shadow guards. I don’t want this incident repeating itself again!”
“Yes, boss,” the man, now known as Felix, replied and left.
Enzo retrieved his phone from his pocket and dialed his father’s number. His father picked up on the first ring.”
“Hello, son…”
“Dad, that stunt you pulled with my wife–don’t do it again. If you do, I’ll forget you’re my father!” he growled lowly. Every word carried his
anger.
“Are you really going to fight your father because of that wretch?” his father asked.
He banged the table in front of him, offended by his father’s words.
“My wife is not a wretch. And yes, I will fight the whole world because of her!” Then he hung up.

Genevieve’s Point of View
The cool breeze hit my face as the swing moved back and forth.
I stared at the kids who were still playing and running around, while I sulked over the fact that Enzo didn’t let me stay and hear who was behind the text.
“Mr. Enzo was not always this cold. He was once a carefree and loving person, but…” Cora stopped talking.
My interest was already piqued, so I faced her.}]
“But what?” I asked.
“His younger sister died because of his carefree personality,” she said.”
“He had a younger sister?” She nodded. “How did she die?“}
“You see, the Mafia world is very dangerous. People know it’s dangerous, but they don’t realize it’s hell on earth. Once you’re kind, rivals take advantage of your kindness and bring you down or take you out… Mr. Enzo is a victim, but he wasn’t the one who was taken out–it was his sister.”
“What did Enzo do that made them kill her?”
She shook her head. “He didn’t do anything. It was his father’s rival who came after them, and his sister wasn’t lucky.”
I really wanted to know more about Enzo’s father. He said there’s a decade–long enmity between us. I need to know why he said that.
“Mr. Enzo never wanted to inherit his father’s Mafia position. He wanted to live a normal life like other people, and he even has one of the most successful and biggest companies in the country… NovaTech.”
My eyes widened in surprise. “Enzo is the CEO of NovaTech?!”
“Yes. He is the founder and CEO,” a proud smile appeared on her face, but it soon faded away. “But you can’t live a normal life if your father’s the Mafia boss, because everyone’s fighting for that same position, and they’d do anything to get it.“”
She sighed deeply.!!
“I can’t say more than this. Mr. Enzo will tell you the rest of his story when he’s ready to talk about it. Just know that he’s not a bad person. The tabloids and newspapers can say all kinds of bad things about him, but they’re not true. Just trust him.“W
I didn’t say anything. I just stared blankly at the kids, but my mind was twirling with questions. Should I follow my heart and give him a chance? What about the decade–long enmity between our families? But Enzo seemed like he truly cared about me… Maybe I should just put the past behind me and give his love a chance.
Enzo’s voice interrupted my thoughts as he called my name. I turned around and saw him standing a few steps away from me, his hands tucked in his pants pockets. There was a small frown on his face.“!
“Can we an home now?” I ackord with a emila ?

10:07 AM
“Can we go home now?” I asked with a smile.”
He looked surprised when he saw me smile. I guess he was expecting I’d be angry at him for sending me away.”
I got up and approached him.“]
“Stop frowning,” I said, smoothing the frown lines on his forehead. “You’re hotter when you smile.”}
“Really?” he asked, his lips curving into a smile.
“Yeah.”
“Hm,” he hummed as he nodded.
“What would you like to eat? I’ll cook it when we get home,” I said.”
He stared at me for a brief moment. “What’s going on? You seem different.”}
“Different in what way?” I asked.
He tilted his head slightly as he thought about it.
“Like you’re less scared of me.”
I smirked. “Let’s go home,” I replied.
I grabbed his hand and dragged him toward the parking lot.
