Chapter 14
But Esther’s hands were hidden behind her back–she was clearly holding something.
Wendel wasn’t stupid. Ignoring her panicked screams, he forcefully grabbed the object from her hands–a piece of paper, a letter
“Brother, you can’t! You’ll ruin this family
Her desperate plea only deepened Wendel’s suspicions. His fingers tightened around the letter as he unfolded it, determined to see what was written inside &
“No!” Iris screamed and lunged at him like a madwoman, trying to snatch the letter back.)
Tris, are you crazy? Wendel was stunned. He had never seen her this frantic before. It only made him more eager to read the letter
But she was no match for his strength. No matter how hard she struggled, she couldn’t stop him |
As his eyes scanned the words on the page, his face darkened–growing more and more twisted with every line he read
“Give it back!” Ins roared, completely losing control. In a last–ditch effort, she bit down viciously on his arm.
Wendel flinched at the pain, instinctively loosening his grip.
Seizing the moment, Inis snatched the letter and shoved it into her chest, holding onto it for dear life.
Her voice cracked as she screamed, “Get out! Get the hell out! Who gave you permission to touch my things?! Who told you to do this?
But it was too late
Wendel had already seen enough. His expression tumed terrifyingly cold.
He crouched down and suddenly yanked this hair, forcing her to look up at him.
His eyes were filled with hatred and disappointment.
“ins, didn’t you tell me you had no contact with your biological parents? Didn’t you swear you’d never go back to them? Do you have any idea what it feels like to be lied to?”
His grip tightened, his fury pressing down on her like an iron cage.
For a moment, the hatred in their eyes was mutual
The kind of hatred that made them want to tear each other apart.
There was no point in hiding the truth anymore.
Ins let out a hollow laugh. “Yes, I lied to you. But tell me, Wendel, can you swear you’ve never lied to me? Can you guarantee that you didn’t tuve any ulterior motives when you decided to marry me? Can you honestly say that, in your eyes, I wasn’t just a sacrifice?”
“You ungrateful wretch!“.
s palm swung
Every word she spoke felt like a dagger to Wendel’s chest. His rage boiled over, and before he could stop himself, his across her face with a resounding slap
“You bitch! Haven’t I treated you well? What g gives you the right to question me??
For a moment, everything went silent…
Esther covered in the comer, trembling like a frightened quail.
Stella was the first to recover. Her face twisted in fury as she stormed toward Ins
“You Intle ingrate! So all you think about is running off to a better life, huh? Let me tell you something–you can dream all you want, but beat those delusions light out of you”
With that, she kicked ins hard in the chest.
The sting of the slap hadn’t even faded yet when the impact of the kick sent a fresh wave of pain crashing over her. Her vision blurred, her mind growing hazy
At that moment, Ronald spat on the ground. “Pah! Raising a traitor like you was the biggest mistake of my life. I should’ve left you with the traffickers! Hell, I should’ve skinned you alive when I had the chance!”
Then, the beatings began
Fists and feet rained down on her like a merciless storm
For the first time, his truly wondered if she would make it out alive.
Had she been reborn, only to die the same way all over again?
“What the hell are you doing?! Stop
A firm, commanding voice cut through the chaos X
Through her blurred vision, Ins saw figures in uniform storming into the house) The police.
Stella, who had never seen anything like this in her life, instantly froze in terror. A police officer rushed forward, gently helping Iris up from the ground.
