Leah looked down at Thalia triumphantly, as if she’d just won the lottery.[]
Thalia slowly stood up, pulled out a handkerchief from her pocket, and wiped the stains from her face bit by bit.[]
Then she looked at Pierce.[]
Pierce frowned, then avoided Thalia’s gaze and chose silence.]
Thalia suddenly smiled.]]
Speaking to her phone that was still on a call: “Dad, did you hear that?“[]
“They told me to get lost.“]]

Brief silence on the other end, then a deep, powerful voice came through.
“I understand. I’ll handle it.“[]
The only reason Thalia came to work here was because of a childhood arrangement her grandfather had made years ago.[]
Pierce was her fiancé.]]
Although she didn’t like arranged marriages, her dear father insisted it was to ensure a “bridge” of cooperation between the Winters Empire and Blake Empire.[]
He even threatened to pressure her with “filial impiety.“[
Thalia could only agree.]]
To help deepen their relationship, Thalia’s father had her join Blake Group.
In the six months Thalia worked for her fiancé, although she spent most of her time playing games like a lazy vagrant.[]
She still quietly used every resource at her disposal to improve the company’s performance, even helping Blake Group go public.]
Blake Group leaped to become a highly watched enterprise, and Pierce made it onto New York’s richest list.
Despite all of Thalia’s help, she and Pierce rarely communicated.[]

Thalia sat back down in the corner chair, took out her phone, and continued the game that had been interrupted.[]
On screen, her character respawned. Her fingers moved rapidly, as if the tense atmosphere in the conference room had nothing to do with her.
Leah’s face changed from red to black. Clearly, she hadn’t expected Thalia to so blatantly ignore her authority.[]
She slammed the table hard, her voice shrill: “Thalia! Do you think this is some kind of joke?“[]

“Everyone’s focused on the meeting, and you’re playing games by yourself?”
Thalia sneered: “I’ve already met my annual performance targets. What’s wrong with playing games?“]
“Leave now, or I’ll call security!“[]
Thalia didn’t even look up, replying: “Do whatever you want.“[]
The other executives exchanged glances.
Some pretended to flip through their documents, others sneaked glances at Pierce, waiting for his reaction.[]
Pierce finally stood up.[]
He wore a sharp black suit, his expression cold and stern.[]
He looked at Thalia, his eyes showing a hint of impatience and indifference.[]
“Thalia, your performance might be excellent–but this isn’t your playground.“[]
Pierce’s voice was calm but carried unquestionable authority.[]
“This is my company, and I won’t tolerate this behavior.“]
“Please leave the conference room immediately and don’t disrupt the meeting.”
Thalia’s fingers paused, and her game character died again.
Thalia looked up, meeting Pierce’s gaze with a mischievous smile: “Pierce, are you sure you want to kick me out?“]
Pierce frowned, his voice even colder.[]
“I don’t want to repeat myself. If you have any professional integrity, you should know what the bottom line is.“[]
“What if I don’t want to leave?“]
“Then don’t blame me for being ruthless.“]
Seeing Pierce take her side, Leah suddenly became bold.[]
She rushed to Thalia and slapped the phone out of her hands.
