Chapter 7
The day off my wedding to Hurter finally arrived
Since Hunter was an oihan, he had no objections to mowing into the Morgan estate after our marriage. In fact, my parents adored him more than any into could hope fizr.
They treated him like their own flesh and boosti.
But just before the ceremony, someone unexpected showed um
Colm Fitzwilliam had flown im from Harbor City
He saw me in my wedding dress. I had just finished getting dressed when he acreared His eyes went red the moment he saw mE.
“If I hadn’t been so foolish back then,” he said hoarsely, you would’ve been the one standing at the attar with me. You should be the one wearing that dress for me.”
We stood apart, a safe distance between us. Staff and security were nearby. I looked him in the eye
“Colin,” I said calmly, “I really shouldn’t have agreed to see you. But out of respect for the friendship we once had, I gave you this one moment. Don’t waste it
1 paused before telling him, “If you truly came to congratulate me, go enjoy the wedding party outside.”
He stepped closer, voice low. “After I married Denise, I didn’t touch her. I couldn’t. I regret everything, Lucy. If I divorce her, would you come back to Harbor City with me? Call off your wedding with him. I’ll make it right. I’ll compensate Hunter. I’ll do whatever it takes. I think about you every day. Please… give me another chance.”
I took a step back, firm. “Colin, I don’t want to.”
Looking at him straight in the eye, I said, “I’m a Morgan. More then that I love Hunter. I’m marrying him today. Please leave.”
I didn’t stop and continued, “You didn’t want me because you thought I relied too much on my family. So you married Denise, then turned around and complained she lacked any social propriety. Now you’ve replaced her with a mistress because she couldn’t keep up “You don’t want me, Colin,” I declared. “You just can’t stand that you lost”
Colin was still quiet, unresponsive.
So, I pressed on, “You’re fickle. Indecisive. Honestly, it’s exhausting.”
A pained look crossed his face, but he stayed quiet.
Finally, I told him, “This is my wedding day, Colin. I won’t waste another minute on this. Get
out.”
I turned to go, but Colin grabbed my wrist tightly.
“You went to Harbor City for me! Now I’ve come in person, and you’re playing hard to get? You think your father can protect you forever?”
I attempted to free my wrist from his grip, but he held it tightly.

His eyes widened with obsession as he proclaimed, “When I take over the Fitzwilliam family, who’s going to stop me from getting what I want?”
That was no longer a plea. It was a threat.
I turned back, meeting his cold, calculating gaze.
“Then let’s see if my father and my husband can protect me for the rest of my life.”
He didn’t respond and just left.
But his expression as he walked out was so dark, brooding, and unpredictable that it left an ominous feeling behind.
After the wedding, I told both my father and Hunter what Colin had said. My father considered it carefully, then turned to Hunter.
“What do you think?”
Hunter scoffed. “A man like that? If he becomes chairman of the Fitzwilliam Group, he’ll be trouble. Better to make sure he never gets that chance.”
My father laughed, patting him on the shoulder. “Good. I knew I chose well.”
“But if not him,” he added, “then who?”
I offered a quiet suggestion. “Why not consider Oliver?”
“Colin’s older brother?” my father said, looking interested in my idea.
I nodded. “He’s the firstborn. The rightful heir. If he took the reins, it would be entirely legitimate.”
Then I explained, “Colin only has his mother’s position to lean on, but with their company’s board of directors, he’s already lost support. Oliver is different. Even back in Harbor, I heard people speak well of him. Also, the senior staff respect him.”
My father’s eyes lit up. “The last time I met Oliver, he talked about the company’s direction with a lot of insight. He’s smart. He’s not favored by his father now, but he carries himself with poise, neither arrogant nor servile. He’s someone who can get things done.”
