My Crush Uncle Brings Me Back Home, but For His Wedding Anniversary Ch 7

My Crush Uncle Brings Me Back Home, but For His Wedding Anniversary Ch 7
Chapter 7
The fire department needed to investigate the cause of the blaze, so they put us up at a nearby hotel.

Uma was as calm as ever, not a single complaint, even though we were in a completely new environment. I was amazed by how composed she always was, even in the most stressful moments.

But then came the news. The fire? It was no accident. It had been deliberately set. And the one who orchestrated it? Melissa.

It hit me like a ton of bricks. Looking back, it all made sense. The moment I turned down her offer to go abroad, Melissa must’ve decided she’d take matters into her own hands.

She was arrested and taken to the police station, but honestly, as much as I loathed her, the fact that Uma and I were still alive was the one bright spot in all of this.

I expected Orion to stand by her side, but the next day, he made a shocking announcement: he and Melissa were getting a divorce.

And that wasn’t all. Orion spilled their dirty little secret. Their entire marriage had been a business move, an alliance to boost stock prices, all while pretending to be this picture-perfect couple.

In front of the media, Orion bowed and said, “I apologize for the deception. But I know, without a doubt, my true love was never Melissa.”

I stared at the report, almost in disbelief. Just days ago, they were celebrating their wedding anniversary, and now, here they were, announcing a divorce. It felt surreal.

Meanwhile, Melissa, locked up in the police station, admitted to trying to kill me, though she didn’t show the slightest ounce of remorse. Cold as ice, just like I remembered.

I agreed to meet her once. She looked tired, worn, but her hatred for me was still as sharp as ever.

“Yara,” she snarled, “I only regret not having someone kill you outright. So what if I forced Orion to marry me? We were together for five years! It’s your fault! If you hadn’t come back, none of this would’ve happened!”

I looked at her, this woman consumed by rage, and honestly, all I felt was sadness.

Before leaving the station, I finally said what was on my mind.

“Melissa, after all your scheming… did you get what you wanted?”

Her mouth snapped shut, and I could hear the sobs starting to break through as I walked away.

Fate really has a way of laughing at us, doesn’t it?

If I could go back and do it all over again, I would never, ever have fallen for Orion.
