Chapter 12
When Alistair took the stand, Seraphina looked like she wanted to murder him.
She was glaring at him with pure hatred, probably never imagining that the guy she’d worked so hard to manipulate would end up being the star witness against her.
“The defendant repeatedly told me negative things about the plaintiff, saying Aurelia wasn’t good enough for me.”
Alistair stood at the witness stand, his voice shaking.
“She’d always say stuff to get under my skin, like ‘Aurelia’s so plain‘ or ‘You deserve so much better than her.“”
“She even said she wanted to make Aurelia ‘disappear forever.“”
“I thought she was just talking trash, I never imagined…”
He couldn’t finish the sentence, his voice cracking.
“The day it happened, she personally handed me that bottle and told me to give it to Aurelia.”
“She said it was some expensive imported water and that Aurelia should try it.”
“When I asked why she didn’t give it to her herself, she said they didn’t get along and Aurelia probably wouldn’t take it from her.”
“If I’d just been more careful, if I hadn’t let her fool me…”
He looked straight at me, his eyes full of regret. “I’m so sorry, Aurelia. I failed you completely.”
“I’m such an idiot. She played me like a damn puppet and I had no clue.”
That’s when Seraphina finally lost it.
She shot up from her seat, screaming like a maniac.
“Yes! I did it on purpose! I wanted to destroy her!”
The whole courtroom erupted.
The judge banged his gavel. “Defendant, control yourself!”
But Seraphina was way past caring about courtroom etiquette.
“Why should she get to have Alistair? She’s so ordinary, so boring!”
She was pointing at me, her voice raw from screaming.
“I’m a hundred times prettier than her! A hundred times better!”
“But Alistair only saw her! Only her!”
“I hate her! I wanted to turn her into a freak so Alistair would finally see she wasn’t worth it!”
Her lawyer was desperately trying to shut her up, but she shoved him away.
“What did I do wrong? I just wanted love!”

Chapter 12
“She was the one hogging Alistair!”
“She ruined my chance at love, so I ruined her face!”
“It’s totally fair! Completely fair!”
The entire courtroom went dead silent.
Even the judge was stunned for a few seconds before he snapped back to reality.
“Defendant! Stop talking immediately!”
But Seraphina kept ranting. “I don’t regret it! Not one bit!”
“Seeing her face get destroyed made me so happy!”
“She got exactly what she deserved!”
Those words sealed her fate.
Confessing in open court and showing zero remorse–yeah, that was definitely going to influence the judge’s decision.
I sat there in my wheelchair, calmly watching her meltdown.
So this was who she really was.
All the masks were off now, showing everyone her true, twisted nature.
