Chapter 19
Tristen scoffed. “Oh, restly? Funny, because from what I’ve heard, you’ve been sleeping with a different gut every night these past three years. And they all had one thing in common they looked a lot ise my wife”
Wystr’s debet tightened He hadn’t expected Tristan to know about that
After Sloan teh, Viyatt had sunk into depression. His mother, desperate to help him, had hired a girl who resembled Sloan to stay close to him. At first. Wyatt had been furious when he discovered the truth–he’d kicked the girl so hard she flew across the room, not
even caring if she survived
But at night, the emptiness would creep in and he’d find himself craving that sense of warmth and comfort. So naturally, he’d sought out replacements–women who looked like Sloan–to fill the void
“It’s not what you think, Sloan,” Wyatt said desperately. 1 only did it because I missed you so much. 1. didn’t know any other way to cope.”
Sloan’s eyes were cold. “You’re still the same disgusting person you always were, Wyatt We’re never getting back together. I don’t want to see you again.”
As Sloan and Tristan walked away, Wyatt stood frozen, consumed by the crushing weight of her words. He had lost the only woman he had ever truly loved.
But then his gaze landed on the little girl walking beside them. A thought struck him like
lightning
If Sloan had really gone through with the abortion, how could she have a daughter this age?
And that face… there was something familiar about it. The shape of her nose, the curve of her chin–features that mirrored his own. Could the girl be his daughter?
Wyatt’s breathing quickened. He snatched a fallen strand of the girl’s hair from the floor and rushed toward Amelia, dragging her toward the hospital.
“I knew it!” Wyatt laughed like a madman, clutching the DNA test in his hands. His eyes shone with manic joy. “I knew Sloan couldn’t just let me go!”
Tears of relief streamed down his face as he added, “Brielle–she’s my daughter! Mine and
Sloan’s!”
The other patients in the hospital corridor shot him wary looks, but Wyatt didn’t care. He was practically jumping for joy, his whole body shaking with adrenaline.
Amelia’s eyes widened in surprise before softening with delight. Even though the child was a girl, she was still a Finley. A rightful heir.
Wyatt had been a notorious womanizer over the years, but he’d never let any other woman get pregnant. Not even Carol.
Amelia’s gaze darkened at the thought. That worthless woman had outlived her usefulness. No point in wasting time thinking about her now.

Amelia’s gaze darkened at the thought. That worthless woman had outlived her usefulness. No point in wasting time thinking about her now.
Learning that Brielle was his biological daughter, Wyatt’s shattered heart had found a new reason to beat. Now that he knew Brielle was his daughter, he was determined to get Sloan back. He just needed the right opportunity.
It didn’t take long for him to track down Sloan’s hotel.

Later that night, Wyatt slipped into Sloan’s hotel room under the cover of darkness.
Sloan, sitting on the bed with Brielle in her arms, heard the faint sound of footsteps and frowned. “Tristan? Is that you?”
When no one answered, she put Brielle down and pulled on a robe. Carefully, she padded
toward the door.
The next second, a large hand clamped over her mouth and dragged her toward the balcony.
“Sloan, it’s me,” Wyatt’s voice rasped against her ear. “I brought Carol.”
Sloan shoved him away and slapped him across the face. “Are you out of your mind?! How did you even get in here?”
The sharp sound of the slap left a red mark on Wyatt’s cheek, but he didn’t seem to care.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. I just… I didn’t want you to scream.”
His voice dropped lower, almost pleading. “I know you hate Carol. That’s why I brought her here–to make her apologize to you.”
Sloan’s expression twisted with disbelief. “You kidnapped her?”
Wyatt smiled faintly. “For the past three years, I’ve kept Carol locked up. I made sure she suffered for what she did to you. I wanted her to pay for hurting you.”
Sloan’s stomach churned. “You… kept her prisoner?”
Wyatt’s gaze sharpened with desperation. “I did it for you.”
From the shadows, Carol’s eyes glinted with cold rage. Her wrists were bruised, her lips chapped. She had lost everything because of Wyatt’s obsession with Sloan.
And now, even after being used and discarded, Wyatt still put Sloan first.
Hatred boiled beneath Carol’s fragile surface. She had suffered in silence for three years- beaten, humiliated and left to rot. But despite all the torture she endured at the hands of the Finleys, her hatred burned hottest for Sloan.
She was furious–seething with rage–that the woman who had caused all her misfortune
