I looked at the calculating woman in front of me, finding it hard to understand how she could have such thick skin.
“It was you who rejected Henry because you thought he was blind, then deliberately seduced Ethan and got a marriage certificate with him. What’s this? The first love with a bond stronger than gold, but now it’s not good anymore?”
Cynthia’s eyes reddened and she rolled up her sleeves, revealing bruises of varying shades of purple.
“Ethan is not human, he hit me! He said he was supposed to marry you and I ruined your relationship. He wants everything to return to where it was supposed to be. If I don’t comply, he’ll hit me.”
I felt speechless. So, for them, marriage and relationships were just a game.
If they wanted to back out, did we have to play along?
“I’m sorry, but I am now Henry’s wife. He’s a human, not an object and I won’t let him go to anyone!”
Seeing that I refused, Cynthia immediately kneeled outside my door, saying she wouldn’t get up until I agreed.

My heart froze in an instant, unwilling to believe it.
But just earlier, Henry had sent me a message saying he had something important tonight and probably wouldn’t be back.
Ethan dragged me into a car and we drove all the way to the entrance of the most luxurious
hotel.
We waited silently as the night fell, watching as Ethan and a beautiful woman chatted and laughed while leaving the hotel.
Ethan couldn’t wait to pull me forward, standing in front of Henry and her.
“Wendy, you saw with your own eyes. Henry is not sincere with you.”
I stared at Henry, my mind desperately clinging to one thought: escape from here and from this filthy world.
I was afraid that if I stayed even a moment longer, the tears would fall. In a panic, I turned and tried to run.

Henry was utterly confused, glancing at the woman behind him, then at his pitiful wife in front of him.

It turned out the woman behind him was Henry’s sister. She hadn’t been able to attend our wedding due to some prior commitments, but had come this time to deliver our wedding gift.
However, she had received an urgent task and needed to put together a business proposal overnight, so she brought Henry along to help.
She had planned to meet with me tomorrow after finishing everything, but instead, this huge misunderstanding had happened.
I was instantly filled with embarrassment and shame.
But Henry just laughed like a big fool. “Wendy, are you jealous of me?
Ethan looked defeated, his eyes filled with despair as he watched me and Henry, so deeply connected.

After a long silence, Ethan sighed and slumped his shoulders in defeat
“Wendy, I wish you happiness.”
Finally, the eight years of entanglement, love and resentment came to an end.
