- 9.
When I met Claire, she immediately grabbed my hand.
“You have to come with me and save Ethan!”
“You’re the only one who can save him now!”
I yanked my hand away.
“I didn’t come here to save Ethan.”
“But if you want me to save him, there’s one
condition: give me back my body.”
She froze.
“No… I can’t.”
“Then there’s nothing to talk about.”
I turned to leave, but she suddenly dropped to
her knees, begging. “Jade, please, save Ethan! He’s all I have!”
“I know it was wrong to take your body, but I desperately want to live! I want to be with
Ethan forever!”
“You’ve had so much happiness. Can’t you let
me have a little?”
“No. Because this isn’t your life to live,” I said
coldly.
She actually started crying.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry! As long as you save
Ethan, I’ll do anything–anything except give
<
you back your body.”
“Jade!”
Ethan suddenly appeared.
He looked at me, his eyes icy.
“It was just a soul swap between you and
Claire. Do you really need to be this upset?”
“You know I’m dying, and yet you refuse to
help me.”
I couldn’t believe he’d say that.
He destroyed my life, stole everything from
- me.
And he had the nerve to say it like it was
Г
Cough!
I couldn’t stop myself from coughing up
blood, a sharp pain tearing through my
stomach.
“Ethan, so my life doesn’t matter?”
“Let me tell you, if you don’t switch me back,
I’m not saving you.”
He rushed over to support me.
“Jade, please don’t be like this.”
“Claire has suffered enough.”
“Just hang in there. I’ll find doctors to help
you.”
Hearing him say that, I snapped.
I shoved him away violently.
“Get lost, Ethan! I hate you!”
