I lost control and lunged at her, grabbing a handful of her hair.
“Give me back my body!”
“You stop right there!”
Ethan kicked me, sending me flying. I
slammed hard into the coffee table.
The table shattered from the impact.
“Claire, if you ever dare touch Jade again, I
swear I’ll make you regret it!” Ethan snarled.
If I hadn’t heard what he said earlier, I might have actually believed he loved me.
But it was all an act!
I clutched my chest. It ached terribly, and my whole body throbbed with pain.

He used to love me so much, or so I thought.
He’d said he would give up his company for me, spend every day with me, take me shopping, traveling.
He would give me anything I wanted.
We grew up together, and in high school, he
promised he would only ever love me.
He even told me, “Jade, you’re the only one
I’ll ever marry in this life.”
But it was all a lie.
L
“Someone get her out of here!”
As soon as Ethan spoke, I was dragged out
and thrown onto the street.
I hit the ground hard, feeling like my bones
were about to shatter.
Inside, I could see Ethan holding Claire—in my body–kissing her. He whispered to her, “We’ll go pick out rings tomorrow.”
I had been so excited for tomorrow.
I really thought Ethan truly loved me.
But I was wrong.
