Since Ethan refused to agree to the divorce, I
had to sue him.
His illness was getting worse, so he didn’t have the energy to bother me anymore.
Around that time, I heard that Kai had beaten Claire so badly she ended up in the hospital.
I was shocked.
That couldn’t be right. He’d never laid a hand
on me when I was in Claire’s body.

I rushed back to Kai’s apartment, but he
wasn’t there.
A neighbor told me he’d been taken to the
police station for assaulting Claire.
I rushed to the station to find him.
He was just being released when I got there. The moment he saw me, his eyes flickered.
I walked up to him. “Why did you hurt Claire? You never did anything like that before.”

been caught doing something wrong. “It won’t

“I went after Claire because she said she
wanted you gone for good. I just wanted to
teach her a lesson.”
“Jade, I’ve always remembered you. I’ve

His words made my heart stop.
I stared into his eyes, desperately searching
my memory for who he could be.
But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t
place him.

Before I could finish, Ethan suddenly appeared and punched Kai hard in the face.
“She’s my wife!” Ethan roared. “You messed around with Claire, and now you’re trying to get with my wife?!”
Kai stumbled back, blood trickling from the
corner of his mouth.
Without a second thought, I slapped Ethan
across the face.
His cheek flushed red. He stared at me in
disbelief.
I ignored Ethan and turned to Kai.
“Are you okay? Does it hurt?”
His eyes instantly welled up.
“I’m fine.”
“Jade! You’re my wife! How can you care about another man?!” Ethan yelled, furious.
“You love me!”
I looked at him, my voice cold. “I don’t love
you anymore.”
I paused, then glanced at Kai.
“The person I love now… is Kai.”
I wasn’t even sure how or when I’d fallen for

But I remembered clearly how he’d helped me save the old family house.
And now he’d told me everything, shown me how he’d been protecting me all along.
Even though I couldn’t remember our past, I knew I’d developed feelings for him.
I squeezed Kai’s hand tightly and faced
Ethan. “I’ve already filed for divorce. We’ll be
officially over soon.”
