- 12.
I pushed Ethan aside and walked away
without looking back.
The first thing I did was pull out my phone
and call my parents.
I told them I missed them, then rushed home
and hugged them tightly.
It felt so good to be back in my own body.
“Sweetheart, what’s gotten into you today?” my mom chuckled.
“Why are you crying?”
“You’re a married woman now, and still acting
like a child.”
Her words suddenly reminded me: Ethan and I
had gotten our marriage certificate.
That meant I was legally his wife.
No way. I had to divorce him.
No way. Inau

Just then, Ethan showed up at my house.
He knelt on the floor, pleading, “Come back
with me, Jade. We have the certificate. We’re
married.”
“You can’t leave me!”
His words made me sick to my stomach.
He was trying to use the marriage certificate
to guilt–trip me into going back to him.
But I wasn’t going back.
My mom was still asking what was wrong
between Ethan and me.
I stated it plainly “I’m divorcing Ethan ”
く
I stated it plainly, “I’m divorcing Ethan.”
“Mom, Dad, I have to divorce him. Nothing
and no one can stop me.”
“No… you can’t!” Ethan immediately crawled
closer, his face a mask of desperation.
“You can’t divorce me!”
“Jade, I know I was wrong! I shouldn’t have
swapped your soul with Claire’s!”
“What?!” my mom exclaimed in shock.
“What soul swapping?”
I told her and my dad everything that had
happened.
They were furious and completely supported
my decision to divorce him.
At that, Ethan completely fell apart.
“No! Please, give me one more chance!”
He barely got the words out before he
coughed up another mouthful of blood.
I walked over to him and said coldly, “Ethan, I
used to cough up blood just like that, back
when I was in Claire’s body. You didn’t even
look at me then.”
He was speechless, his face contorted in
pain.
