Chapter 12
Willow’s POVE
I stared at him for a long moment, unsure of what to say ”
This was him?
Alpha Alastairk
The man I had rolled my eyes over when my father first brought up the idea. The man I had vowed not to meet because I still had hop that Silas would change.
He didn’t look like I imagined. He wasn’t old or cold or arrogant like I had feared. Instead, he was a few years older than me, incredibly good–looking, and he had very kind eyes.
“L” I tried to speak, but my throat ached. “I didn’t really want you to meet me like this “”
He pulled the chair closer to my bedside and sat down. 7 wanted to be here for you.”
I swallowed thickly. “You didn’t have to come at all.”
I know he said simply, “but I wanted to “%
For a while, we sat in comfortable silence !
Then the door opened, and my father walked in.)
His eyes widened when he realized that I was awake. When he met my eyes, I could see so many emotions rushing through them. Pain. Anger Relief
“Thank God,” he whispered, exhaling in deep relief. “Willow…”
I opened my mouth, but I had no words to say “Dad_”
“You’ve been unconscious for hours,” he said, his voice rough as he rushed to my side. “They almost killed you, Willow”
I nodded weakly.
“Who did this?” he asked.
I didn’t answer, but I didn’t need to answer. He already knew
His eyes blazed with rage, and he gritted his teeth in fury. I hadn’t even told him about the planned miscarriages.!
“I’ll kill him,” he said, clenching his fists. “Il rip that bastard’s head from his neck and feed it to the dogs-”
“Dad.” My voice was hoarse, but firm. “Don’t”
He stared at me in disbelief. “You want me to let him go after what he did?“}
gave a bitter smile. “I’ve already lost enough, Dad. Fighting him won’t bring any of it back. Let karma do what it does best.”
My father obviously wanted to argue, but Alastair placed a hand gently on his shoulder. “Let her rest,” he said calmly. “She’s still very tired.”
For a moment, my father said nothing. Then, finally, he nodded stiffly. “Fine, but I am not letting this go.”
gave him a faint smile. “I know &
He watched me for a long moment. Then he sighed and sat down, brushing my hair away from my face like he used to when I was a child
He wrapped his fingers around mine. “I failed you,” he said softly.
I squeezed his hand. “No dad. You didn’t. You were just respecting my wishes. I am the one at fault”
There was silence for a moment, then he exhaled deeply.!!
“Where do you want to go now?” he asked.
“Home” I whispered X
After I was discharged, I was wheeled out of the clinic by Alastair, while my father handled the hospital forms. When we reached the car, Alastair opened the door of the back seat for me, then he sat beside me while my father drove.
“Do you want to talk?” Alastair asked softly after a long while.
1 shook my head “Not yet,
“Okay” he replied, just as gently. “Whenever you’re ready”
We drove in silence for a while longer.
Then, out of nowhere, I began talking.
“I thought I could survive him,” I murmured “I thought if I was patient enough, loyal enough, if I endured, and kept loving me that he would eventually love me back“;
Shume flooded me
“I was such a fool,” I whispered. “I gave him everything, and he just left me to die.”
After Alastair was sure that I was done talking, he began speaking, his voice gentle. “You weren’t foolish. You were just in love, even though you weren’t given the same in return”.
Tears welled up in my eyes again, and I looked away
“You deserve someone who sees you” he continued. “Who would love you unfailingly and without ceasing.
1 didn’t respond, but my heart warmed because his word’s meant more to me than anything Silas had ever said to me.
