The entity asked three times. After much hesitation, we didn’t dare make a sound. The lights suddenly went out. A chilling wind swept through
the room.
“So my head was here after all!” The woman’s resentful voice came from behind us.
Ryker reacted in a flash, his wolf claw slashing the arm of the woman who was trying to rip off my neck, severing it into several pieces. We seized the chance and ran out of the room. Downstairs, the doors and windows were tightly shut. It was terrifyingly silent. Valerie and Sterling were nowhere to be found. Besides Ryker and me, everyone else in the hotel seemed to have vanished into thin air.
“Are you looking for me?” The female ghost appeared behind me as silently as before.
I flung a handful of sticky rice at her, then plunged a peach wood dagger into her chest. The female ghost shrieked and disintegrated into dust. Wiping the cold sweat from my forehead, I silently congratulated myself that the things I’d prepared earlier had come in handy at the crucial
moment.
Before I could even catch my breath, two tentacles suddenly wrapped around Ryker and my necks, quickly hoisting us up to the ceiling. To our surprise, Valerie and Sterling were also hanging there. Their faces were contorted, mouths wide open, their complexions as red as dripping blood, eyes bulging as if they might pop out of their sockets.
No time to worry about them. I pulled out my dagger and frantically stabbed at the tentacles. The monster roared in pain and violently flung me away. Ryker was even more ruthless; his sharp wolf claws directly severed the tentacles. Sterling, seizing the monster’s distraction, threw his boomerang, cutting the tentacles that held him and Valerie, freeing them from its grasp.
After the four of us landed, a black venomous snake emerged from the shadows. It had nine heads, its vertical pupils revealing intense murderous intent as it fixed its gaze on us. Seeing us get back on our feet, it furiously opened its gaping maw, deadly venom dripping from its sharp fangs. This must be the big boss of this stage.
In this life–or–death situation, we all agreed to attack its necks. But this nine–headed snake grew two new heads for every one we cut off. It was fierce, brutal, and unstoppable. The four of us couldn’t even gain an advantage against it. Later, Ryker discovered that a tumor on the nine–headed snake’s back was its weakest point. So, we concentrated our fire on the tumor. Finally, just as we were all exhausted and collapsing, we successfully eradicated the big boss.
