Chapter 6
Alpha Lorcan’s foot slammed on the accelerator, the engine’s roar a beast in the night as he tore through the empty streets. His knuckles were white on the wheel, his eyes burning with rage, every muscle in his body coiled tight like a spring ready to snap. Marigold, his so–called loyal lover, sat in the passenger seat–silent, invisible in his storm. The wind howled through the open windows, but it couldn’t drown out the tension that simmered between them.
The moment the tires screeched to a halt in the garage, Lorcan was out of the car before it had fully stopped. He yanked Marigold from her seat with one savage tug, dragging her across the pavement by her wrist, his grip unyielding.

“Explain yourself!” His voice sliced through the stillness, low and dangerous, an animalistic growl that made Marigold flinch, her body trembling.
Marigold’s breath hitched, her instincts flaring at the proximity of his fury. “I–I don’t know! It was Galadriel! She… she framed
me! The USB was found with her! She’s been plotting this revenge for weeks!” Her words came out in a desperate rush, but every syllable felt like another nail in her coffin.
The mention of my name hit Lorcan like a blow to the chest. His grip loosened for a second, a flicker of doubt crossing his face, but it was gone almost instantly, replaced by a raw, feral disbelief.
“Galadriel?” His voice was barely a whisper, as if testing the reality of it. “She’s always been… gentle. Calm. She would never-”

The old me wouldn’t have.
I had planned to slip away quietly, to disappear into the shadows without a trace. I had even considered leaving Lorcan a clean break, a final parting at the Pack banquet. But Marigold had pushed me too far–her cowardly frame–up gave me the perfect excuse to step out of the shadows and make my mark.
I watched it all unfold on my phone’s screen, the glow illuminating my face as I sipped my tea, a wicked smile curling at my lips. Lorcan’s world was crumbling in real time, the tension between him and Marigold so thick it could be cut with a knife. Every word they exchanged was another fracture in the facade they had built.
Lorcan’s control finally snapped. His fingers

dug into Marigold’s wrist with crushing force, and his voice roared with anger, the wolf inside him clawing for release.
“You think you can ruin everything for me and get away with it?” he spat, his voice rising with every word. “You’re a traitor! You’ve destroyed everything!”
A purse slipped from Marigold’s hand, its contents spilling across the floor. The USB was the first thing Lorcan’s sharp eyes latched onto.
Before he could even process the weight of the evidence, his hand cracked across Marigold’s cheek with the force of a thunderclap. The sound echoed through the room, the slap brutal enough to send her sprawling to the floor, blood staining the corner of her mouth.

“You liar!” Lorcan’s voice was raw, wild. His chest heaved with the effort to contain his fury. “This… this is all your doing!”
Marigold curled into herself, sobbing silently, but Lorcan wasn’t finished. His rage was too consuming to notice her pain.
Without another glance, he stormed up the stairs, the thud of his boots a steady beat of impending doom. The bedroom door flew open with a force that made the frame shudder.
The room was empty.
“Galadriel!” Lorcan’s voice was rough, laced with desperation. “Where are you?!”
There was no answer.
The silence in the house was suffocating, a

void that seemed to swallow him whole. The walls, once full of warmth and life, now felt cold and alien. He ripped through the rooms, searching frantically, his instincts screaming that something was wrong. But the more he searched, the deeper the void became. I had vanished–leaving only the wreckage of his broken trust.
Standing in the middle of the empty room, Lorcan froze, his eyes scanning the emptiness. The absence of me was overwhelming–no scent, no trace of my
presence.
I was gone. The woman he had once trusted, the Luna he thought was his, no longer existed.
His fingers trembled as he reached for his phone, dialing my number. The call didn’t connect. I had already blocked him.

Behind him, Marigold’s sobs were still echoing. She had followed him like a shadow, pathetic and broken. “Lorcan, you don’t understand! This isn’t my fault! Galadriel… she-”
“Shut. Up.” His voice was cold, final, and laced with contempt. He shoved her aside, not sparing her another glance, and stormed out of the room.
I watched them for a moment longer, a cruel smile playing on my lips. The wreckage they’d left behind wasn’t my problem anymore. Tomorrow was the Mate ceremony -the moment my true bond with Beta Aurelian would be sealed.
The grand hall was a vision of opulence. Crystal chandeliers hung like stars, casting a soft, golden light that made the space

feel otherworldly. The air was thick with the fragrance of white roses, their petals like promises in bloom.
At the heart of it all, Beta Aurelian stood by my side, every inch the powerful, magnetic leader. His presence commanded the room, his tailored suit accentuating his rugged handsomeness. I stood beside him, my gown sparkling under the warm glow, my heart pounding with anticipation.
The officiant’s voice boomed across the hall, rich and commanding. “Do you take this wolf as your Mate? To stand by his side, to fight by his side, through all battles–joy and sorrow, war and peace?”
I met Beta Aurelian’s eyes–there was no doubt, no hesitation. This was my destiny, and nothing would tear us apart.
