Reik took me to a private hospital.
He must have had someone clear it out in advance. The entire floor was empty of other patients, with only a team of doctors standing by.
As Reik sent me off for a full physical examination, it dawned on me that I hadn’t seen the original group of bodyguards–the ones who had thrown me against the wall–around him for a while.
By the time I finished all the tests, the sky had turned completely dark,
Reik was exceptionally patient. He was waiting for me right outside the door, wearing only his black shirt, his heavy coat draped over one arm.
When the doctor approached us, Reik just lowered his eyes and gently pushed up my sleeve.
“Can these scars be removed?” he asked the doctor
I looked down at my arm, a tapestry of old and new scars. The doctor, wearing gloves, lightly touched my arm

He pointed to a few spots. “These new ones can be treated, but the older, deeper scars…”
Under Reik’s increasingly cold gaze, the doctor’s words trailed off.
He could only stammer, “We… we might need to convene and discuss some treatment plans.”
