They were still her blood relations, after all. She couldn’t bring herself to speak cruelly to the parents who hail given her life, nor did the vent argue with them.
They would only ever hear what they wanted to hear anyway. Arguing would just be wasting her breath.
“Mom, Dad, this is the last time I’ll ever call you that. You never treated me like a daughter anyway, so just go on pretending Tiffany is your only chúid.” Her tone was calm, delivering these relationship ending words as casually as a greeting. The effect on her parents was one of stunned disbelief. “You….Ungrateful… ungrateful!” Mr. Ellery’s finger trembled as he pointed at Sylvia, unable to form another word.
Mrs. Ellery stood frozen, apparently never having imagined that her typically obedient, submissive older daughter would cut ties with her completely in her first act of defiance.
The disbelief in her eyes was almost tangible, but in her heart, panic was overtaking anger,
“We’re your parents! We raised you all these years. You think you can just disown us whenever you feel like it?”
Surprisingly, the most composed person among them was Tiffany. Of course, this might have been because Sylvia’s decision affected her the least.
She smirked with visible disdain. “Sylvia, you don’t actually think you can threaten Mom and Dad with this, do you? You can act out all you want–Mom and Dad still won’t care.”
Tiffany still belieyed Sylvia’s declaration was just a dramatic gesture. She cast a flirtatious glance at Edwin, pouting prettily.
“Edwin, she’s being so immature! Can’t you make her stop?”
Sylvia realized these people had no intention of leaving. Tiffany was completely absorbed in her own world, missed seeing Sylvia take out her phone and make a call.
Being the owner of a private island, Sylvia had naturally invested in security personnel for troublemakers, even though they rarely needed to intervene. Today, that investment was paying off perfectly.
The security team arrived quickly. The sound of guns being cocked finally made the four visitors realize that Sylvia was dead serious about cutting all ties with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Ellery scrambled to their feet, supported by Tiffany and Edwin as they boarded the boat they’d arrived on. Once they’d left Reunion Isle, Tiffany turned back angrily, intending to complain to her parents. But stopped when she saw them staring back at the island with sad expressions.
The words caught in her throat. She glanced at Edwin’s reaction and was even more devastated. Her parents weren’t the only ones staring back longingly. Edwin’s eyes filled with far more sorrow and reluctance than her parents combined.
“No!!!”
The horrible realization hit Tiffany, and she let out an anguished scream that finally drew everyone’s attention.
In the past, such behavior would have immediately prompted her parents to comfort her softly, asking what was wrong before joining her in cursing Sylvia. But this time, their reaction was drastically different.
“Slap!”
A stinging pain spread across her cheek with the sharp sound. Her eyes widened in disbelief, and before her tears of self–pity could even fall, her father’s disgusted voice reached her ears.
“Crying? Is that all you know how to do? Your sister has sacrificed EVERYTHING for you her entire life! And now because of YOUR selfishness, she won’t even call us her parents anymore! What more do you want from her? Haven’t you taken enough?”
Her mother didn’t strike her but looked at her with profound disappointment. “Tiffany, why can’t you just grow up and think of others for once?”
These were achingly familiar words.
But in the past, they had always been directed at Sylvic
