Chapter 5
Ryder finally realized that I was serious–that once I left today, I had no intention of returning.
“Sienna…”
He called my name, his voice trembling with panic.
But why should he panic?
I’m human too. I can feel hurt, I can be upset.
The moment he chose Kendra over me time and time again, he should have known this day would come.
I closed my eyes, not even wanting to look at him.
The covert training meant I couldn’t contact the outside world.
The next time I saw Ryder would be five years later.
I returned to my old pack, and my friends and family prepared a welcome home party for me.
A group of people were excitedly chattering around me.
“Sienna, you have no idea how chaotic it was on the day of the mating ceremony five years ago.”
“When those photos and videos were released, the silvermoon pack’s reputation plummeted. That pair of shameless fools–what were they thinking!”
“Exactly. Alpha Ryder, too. After all he did to hurt you, he still had the nerve to try to stop your helicopter. He deserved to be taken away. It took him half a month to be released from the werewolf confinement room.‘

“I don’t get him at all. He was messing around with Kendra while dating Sienna. After the mating ceremony, his parents tried to downplay the mess between Ryder and Kendra, hoping they could seal the mate bond.”
“Kendra was all for it, but Ryder refused, saying he only wanted one mate in this life–Sienna. Ugh!”
Amid their gossip, Ryder had forced his way through the crowd, pushing his way toward me.
He had lost weight, and his face was marked with the weariness of time. He no longer looked like the confident young man I once knew. “Sienna, is it really you? Five years gone by, you’re so ruthless!”
He stared at me, his face showing the joy of someone who thought they’d found something lost.
But when I saw him again, all I felt was disgust. “Are you done? If you’re done, you can leave!”
Ryder looked nervous. “Don’t push me away. I admit, I didn’t pay enough attention to your feelings back then, but I-”
Before he could finish, a couple of my cousins stepped forward and pulled him away.
“How dare you treat Sienna like that? You broke her heart and made her leave for five years, and you still have the nerve to come find her? Get out!”
After the party, my family and friends were worried that Ryder would keep harassing me, so my older cousin and my friend Piper specially escorted me home.

I didn’t even look at him as I went inside and shut the door behind me.
Once my cousin and Piper left, Ryder began knocking on the door.
Chapter 5
“Sienna… Sienna, open the door!”
“It’s not what you think, I can explain!”
“Sienna…”
It was already midnight, and Ryder was making such a ruckus that neighbors started coming out to see what was going on.
I didn’t want to disturb anyone, and I didn’t want to be bothered by him anymore, so I frowned and opened the door.
When he saw me, his face lit up. “Sienna, you finally opened the door.”
“Ryder, we ended five years ago. Please stop interfering with my life.”
“You said no, but I never agreed! Sienna, listen to me, it was all a misunderstanding. I’ve always loved you. I only have family feelings for Kendra. I’ve never cheated on you!”
These words seemed to have been bottled up inside Ryder for a long time. He grabbed my arm, growing more agitated as he spoke.
I yanked my arm away and mocked him.
“Not cheating? Then what about you two calling yourselves a couple in public? Your lap being Kendra’s designated seat? The car kiss that was caught on camera? Feeding each other mouth to mouth? Kissing until her lip bled? Lying in bed together… Were all those intimate moments just fake?”

At first, Ryder spoke with defiance, but his voice grew quieter and quieter, until he couldn’t say another word.
I stared at him coldly. “Weren’t you good at defending yourself? Keep going.”
Ryder’s voice became bitter. “I admit, I’ve spoiled Kendra too much. It was my fault, and I take responsibility. But I promise, nothing happened between us. I’ll keep my distance from her from now on!”
I laughed. “A three–year–old’s promise is more trustworthy than yours.”
His promises meant nothing to me.
He knew just how ridiculous he’d been. Stumbling through his words, he continued: “I… I didn’t keep my promises before. I was wrong, but I’m willing to change. Give me one more chance!”
“I don’t want to. Please leave, and never come back to disturb my life, today or any other day!”
I shoved Ryder out and slammed the door.
He began banging on the door.
“Sienna!”
“Ryder, if you keep causing a scene, I will call the police.”
I warned him through the door.

Ryder shouted back, “We’ve been through ten years of a relationship. I don’t believe you can be this heartless toward me!”
