Chapter 5 A Worthless Piece of Trash
Mayra looked at Gracie’s sleepy face and chose not to explain it.
Gracie put a set of new pajamas on a bed. “Your room also has a bathroom. Go take a shower and have a rest. I’m too sleepy to chat with
you now.
Mayra nodded and said in a level voice, “Thank you,”
After Gracie went to a bedroom, Mayra figured that the other one would
be hers.
Mayra picked up the pajamas. After the shower, she felt much better.
When she almost fell asleep, she heard her phone go off.
She unlocked it and saw her little brother Shaun Oliver’s message.
“Mayra, I have a holiday and just got home. It’s Viviana’s birthday. Why aren’t you here? Mom said you had left again. I really can’t believe you. Come back. I don’t like what our servants cook. I like what you cook. I want smashed potato salad for tomorrow’s breakfast. Remember to make it.”
“Viviana cried tonight. Apologize when you get home. Besides, aren’t you tired of the drama? Ronan doesn’t like you now. And you mortify me
sometimes.”
Mayra’s heart ached. Staring at the screen, she felt that everybody loved. Viviana and considered her as a worthless piece of trash.
Even if she had lost her memories, she still felt hurt.

The next morning, Mayra woke up early with dark rings around her eyes.
She went to the kitchen to make breakfast and was surprised to find that she was a good cook,
Gracie got out of her bedroom. Smelling the food, she signed.
“You’re gonna bring breakfast to Ronan, aren’t you? Did he ever eat what you brought him? You’re from a rich family, but you learned cooking for him and have never worked since you graduated. Years of chasing him only got you scorn from everyone. Don’t you think it’s not worth it?”
Mayra paused. She wanted to say that she didn’t make it for Ronan.
But she thought Gracie would choose not to believe her like other people
had done.
So Mayra just set the food on the table.
Gracie’s resume was on it. Mayra glanced at the resume and said, “Gracie, I want to find a job. What was my major in college?”
Looking at the food, Gracie thought for a while with a frown before responding, “Maya, you almost got me.”
Mayra felt sad and moved the soup to Gracie. “Please tell me.”
Gracie sat down, began eating, and sighed.
“You majored in finance. But your brother owns your family’s business. I don’t remember you ever going to the company. Even Viviana has 10% of the shares. You don’t. After graduation, you had a chance to be an intern there, but you wanted to spend more time chasing Ronan and didn’t go. Viviana has a good performance in the company. Everyone there knows who she is but doesn’t know your existence.”

Mayra kept eating. After some silence, she said, “Then I’ll go apply for a job in the Morton Group. Colten came back, didn’t he? I want to chase. him.”
Gracie coughed with astonishment.
The soup choked her.
She wiped her lips with tissues right away.
“Didn’t you hate Colten? Because Ronan didn’t like him, you didn’t like. him either. Every time Colten was brought up, you had a long face. Besides, Colten is an extraordinary man. At 18, he graduated from Cashary University with two degrees. At 19, he started up the biggest acquisition company in the country where he went to university. His name is in the Finance Journal frequently. If his legs hadn’t been paralyzed in the car crash 2 years ago, more women in Moonfell would have a secret crush on him.”
Mayra remembered the nice voice she had heard through a call and couldn’t help asking, “What does he look like?”
Gracie searched online and found a photo of Colten that was taken by an overseas media agency.
“Here.”
The man in the photo was wearing a black suit. With his shirt buttoned to the top, he looked aloof. His cold eyes were like the quiet surface of the sea on a winter night under which there were raging waves.
Mayra had never seen such a gorgeous man, and she thought Colton was much better–looking than Ronan.
Gracie said, “After the car crash, he never came back, and his name disappeared in newspapers, home and abroad. What a shame! With his
face, he would still have a lot of admirers even though her legs were paralyzed.”
Mayra had some soup and said, “Ronan said Colten was my boyfriend. I’ll go apply for a job in the Morton Group.”
Gracie pulled a wry face and rubbed between her eyebrows.
“Suit yourself no matter if you want to chase Ronan or Colton. If you can get the aloof Colten, I’ll stop lecturing you.”
