Chapter 13 He’s Never Into You
“Viviana, I’m the one who dumped Ronan. I’ll never get him back. If you like him, you should just keep him.”
Mayra waved her hand to hail a taxi.
Those words hurt Viviana.
you
“Mayra, who are you trying to fool? You’ve done a lot of awkward things over the years in an attempt to win Ronan over. Now you
you said dumped him. Ronan told me in bed that he’s never kissed you. You’re not charming at all. Why is that?”
Mayra’s hand was already on the taxi door when she heard this. She turned around with a mocking smile.
“If the number of times a woman has been slept with is a measure of her charm, those prostitutes must be the most charming. Have you ever thought that maybe it’s just because they’re cheap?”
This was an insult to Viviana.
Viviana’s face turned pale instantly. She’d been attacked with what hurt her the most.
“You!”
She raised her hand to slap Mayra but was grabbed by the wrist.
Mayra looked at Viviana’s angry face, her eyes devoid of any emotion.
The calmer Mayra was, the more flustered Viviana appeared.
Chapter 13 He’s Never into You
She shook off Viviana’s hand. “I said you can keep Ronan. Yet you seem unsatisfied. Do you even like Ronan? Or do you just enjoy the thrill of taking things from me?”
Viviana became even paler, pursing her lips firmly.
Mayra then got into the taxi, instructing the driver to leave.
Viviana stood in place, her chest heaving with anger.
She thought, “Mayra must be pretending. She can’t possibly be indifferent to Ronan.
“Hmph, she’ll probably cry her eyes out later somewhere quiet just like. she used to.”
With this thought, Viviana felt somewhat better.
Just then, Ronan called her, “Vivi, where are you? Have you arrived yet?”
Viviana’s eyes welled up. “I just ran into my sister. She was mean to me. I’m fine. I’ll be there soon.”
Hearing the sob in her voice, Ronan became anxious instantly. “What did Mayra do to you again? She’s such a bitch!”
“Ronan, I’ll be there in ten minutes. Don’t argue with her. It’ll only make things worse for me.”
“You’re too kind. Forget about it for now and get over here. Don’t let her ruin your appetite.”
Viviana’s mood improved. She felt superior to Mayra because Ronan doted on her while treating Mayra poorly.
She pondered, “Mayra, just keep pretending. You can’t even cry when the time comes!”
Chapter 13 He’s Never Into You
Mayra arrived at Palm Heights, where the largest villa was located at the far end, surrounded by several thousand square meters of garden that isolated it from the other mansions, making it incredibly prestigious.
She got out of the car and waited outside the iron gate, holding the resume she had prepared.
She suspected that either Colten made the decision or Jared had tampered with her resume, which was why the Morton Group had rejected it.
However, Colten, being such a powerful individual, was unlikely to resort to such methods. Jared was probably the one.
Mayra stood there waiting for four hours.
Colten’s car didn’t slowly pull in until ten o’clock at night.
Her eyes lit up as she embraced her fear of him and rushed forward.
After the car stopped in front of her, the window rolled down.
“Mr. Colten,” Mayra muttered.
Colten, sitting by the window, spoke in an indifferent tone, “What’s up?”
“I submitted ten resumes to the Morton Group today, but all of them were rejected.”
Her tone was sincere. “I think I am a perfect fit for the job at your company. I reviewed the Morton Group’s latest bidding plans. One of them is an Esmary charity project in collaboration with the government. I only spent a few hours coming up with this proposal. Mr. Colten, I hope you’ll take a look. I can go to Esmary and personally oversee this project.”
Such charity projects were typically unappreciated. In essence, they were
a means for businesses to enhance their reputation. They could later
receive additional advantages and resources if they wished to work with. the government again.
Esmary was known for being a poor and isolated place, so those working on charity projects had to be diligent.
With hopeful eyes, Mayra stood outside the vehicle. She leaned forward a little and gazed expectantly at the man inside.
Few men could remain unmoved by her gaze.
Colten looked away, his Adam’s apple bobbing.
After a few seconds, he said, “You’ve changed a lot because of him.”
