Chapter 19%
During her days in Ireland, Rosalie’s life slowly eased into quiet peace
Though the child in her womb had yet to arrive, and James’s blood illness still lingered, Weston’s patient care left her with little to worry about.
In fact, more often than not, James showed more affection toward Weston than toward her
James had always been cautious around strangers, so his closeness to Weston only proved how much care and effort Weston had poured into him
With some time finally to herself, Rosalie picked up her paintbrush once more.
She used to paint just for her own eyes, quietly admiring the finished work.
But now, with Weston in the house, there was someone who could always grasp the emotion and meaning behind her strokes.
It felt like a rare and quiet kind of blessing.”
That day, Rosalie went alone to the sea in search of inspiration.
Her phone rang.
It was an unfamiliar number. She paused, then answered.
A familiar voice came through, “Rosalie, is that you?”
His voice came through hoarse, as if in just a few short days, the weight of chains had suddenly settled on him.”
Rosalie had intended to hang up. After all, she no longer had anything to do with Chase.
But after a moment of silence, she replied softly, “Hmm.“W
The voice on the other end seemed to come alive, carrying a trace of trembling emotion.
“Rosalie, I finally found you. Do you have any idea how much I’ve missed you these past few days? How painful it’s been?” Miss her?
Rosalie paused, stunned.
“Chase, as far as I remember, you never loved me. The one you cared about was always Isla, wasn’t it? So where’s all this talk about missing me coming from?“}
His voice still carried a choked sob.
“Rosalie, so it’s true. You’re just angry because I got too close to Isla, right? You still have me in your heart, don’t you? You used to love me so deeply that you even did so many reckless things for me. Rosalie, come back to me. I know I was wrong. It wasn’t until you left that I realized the one I truly love is you. And now, you’re carrying my child. Please… come back to me.”
Rosalie stood frozen, her phone clutched in silence for a moment.#
She thought it over carefully, then finally spoke, her tone calm and steady, “Chase, there’s something I need to tell you truthfully: I never loved you.”
“What?” Chase’s voice sharpened, disbelief slicing through his words.
“How is that possible? If you never loved me, then why go through all that just to chase me? Why were you always so thoughtful, sending me flowers, cooking for me, doing whatever I asked? Even during our marriage, you suffered so much because of me, yet you stayed silent and endured it all.”W
“You even got pregnant with my child. Rosalie, after everything between us, how could you say you never loved me? You must be saying this out of spite, right? You’re still angry at me… for hurting you because of Isla, aren’t you? Rosalie, things aren’t the same anymore. Isla destroyed the entire Hollis family. I’ve finally seen her true face. I know now she was behind so much of the pain you suffered…“%
“I truly know I was wrong. I swear, I won’t make those mistakes again. Please, I’m begging you, please forgive me, okay? That child in your womb… it needs its father too…”
“It doesn’t.” Rosalie’s voice came cold and emotionless.”
“From the moment this child was conceived, it was already destined to be born fatherless because I got close to you, not out of love, but because I wanted to carry your child. Because I was your brother Easton’s girlfriend. From beginning to end, the only one I ever loved… was him.”
