Isla stomped her feet in frustration. “What? Just because Rosalie got pregnant, she managed to steal Chase’s heart just like that? No way I won’t let Rosalie ruin my plans to take over the Hollis family. I have to teach her a lesson. Chase still needs to be useful to me!“% Meanwhile, Chase returned home.”
In the past, Rosalie would always come out to greet him whenever he walked through that door. She’d ask if he was tired, watch his mood closely, cook his favorite meals, and find sweet little ways to get closer to him.
Even though he had rarely come home in their three years of marriage because his heart had never been hers, it had always belonged to Isla.
But now, Rosalie had gone far away for the first time since their wedding.
And this time, coming home without her here, something felt off.
The house felt too quiet. Too empty.”
No, what he felt wasn’t just emptiness.
This time, when Rosalie left the country, she didn’t just take his portraits and clear out all her things.
Her favorite decorations, little ornaments, and everything that used to show her presence in the house were now gone.%

The call connected, but only to a cold, automated voice. “Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable.“% His fingers tightened around the phone. He called again. Still the same message.%
And again. Nothing changed.%
Had Rosalie blocked him?”
That single realization hit him like a punch to the chest.
A wave of fear swept through him, sharp and suffocating.”
Why? Why would she block him? Was she planning to keep the baby all to herself? Was she cutting him off for good?%
Had she already decided, before even leaving, that he no longer had a place in her life??
The thought tore through his chest, sharp and suffocating, making his body tremble slightly.
Just imagining it made him want to fly across the world at that very moment, grab Rosalie, and demand answers.
But soon, he forced himself to calm down.”
She had taken his portraits when she left, and that had to mean something, right? How could she not love him? How could she possibly walk away?!

Maybe she was still mad, still upset he hadn’t followed her abroad because of Isla’s birthday. Was she sulking? Jealous?%

But the house felt too quiet, too empty, and the fact that every trace of Rosalie had vanished still clung to his chest like a heavyweight.
He felt restless like he was clutching at air, trying to hold on to something that kept slipping through his fingers.”

Normally, he would’ve said yes without a second thought. But this time, his tone was distant.”
“Isla, take my card and buy whatever you want. I’m not feeling well, so I’m staying in.”%
Without another word, he turned and went upstairs alone.
He opened WhatsApp and typed quickly, [Why can’t I reach you by phone?]}
But when he tried to send the message, he got a notification that the message failed to deliver.?
His heart sank. He tried other apps, hoping for something, anything. Nothing worked.}
She had blocked him everywhere.
Was Rosalie’s jealousy this strong this time??
