Chapter 7
Amara noticed that Alaric had been silent for too long, and she started. to think he might accept Nicole’s betrayal.
So, she wrapped her arm around his, acting all sweet and saying, “Alaric, you’ve put so much into this wedding. It’s just one missing underling, right? We can look for her after the ceremony. The guys are. watching us, so we can’t let this spoil the mood.
“You’ve waited so long for this, and now we finally get to be together. There’s no way we can let the wedding fall apart now.”
But Alaric’s mind was all over the place. He couldn’t focus on her
words.
Everything felt like a tangled mess inside his head. He couldn’t understand why Nicole would just leave him.
And when he heard that she’d taken all her ID and belongings, hist hands started trembling from fear.
He instinctively turned to leave the wedding hall, desperate to find Nicole. Still, Amara wasn’t about to let anything mess with the wedding.
She yanked on his arm, looking at him with wide, teary eyes.
“Alaric, where are you going? Everyone’s watching us!
“You can’t leave me here–not now, not like this!”
Alaric froze, his heart softening at her desperate tone. Amara was

sobbing now, looking on the verge of collapsing.
“Alaric, how could Nicole leave you? She loves you so much. She’d never just walk away.
“She’s probably trying to make you chase after her–to get you to come back. If you go now, she’ll totally win!”
Something clicked for Alaric when he heard her words. He stopped, thought for a moment, and then his face returned to normal. He coldly snorted, “Yeah, that’s it. She’s been with me for so long, loving me like crazy. There’s no way she’d just leave.
“She must’ve found out about the wedding and is throwing a tantrum, trying to get me to go back. She’s playing games.”
The underling was still waiting for Alaric’s orders. He pursed his lips and asked, “Alaric, should we still go look for her?”
Alaric pulled Amara back into the center of the stage, gave his underling an impatient glance, and said.
“No need. Let her be. Once the wedding’s over, she’ll show up on her
own.
“From now on, no one is allowed to interrupt the wedding. If you don’t have the brains to see what’s important, don’t bother showing up!”
With that, Alaric’s warning rang through the room, and the majestic symphony started playing again.
The other messengers left the cruise ship, and no one cared about missing people anymore.
Alaric and Amara exchanged rings under a shower of flowers and the cheers of the guests. They shared a passionate kiss.
The wedding was complete!
Only after getting off the ship did Alaric order his men to go search for:
- me.
He barged into my room in a rush, eyes scanning the unchanged space.
He still thought I was just throwing a tantrum, and his anger bubbled
- up.
He started questioning me out loud. “Nicole, you’ve been causing a scene all this time, and now that the wedding’s over, shouldn’t you be coming out by now?
“Don’t think you can just do whatever you want with me. You
interrupted my wedding with Amara multiple times today. You owe her an apology, or don’t even think about me forgiving you!”
His rage took over, and he started tearing the place apart, looking for clues about where I might have hidden.
He only found a few IDs and personal clothes, which hit him.
“Could Nicole really be serious about leaving?” he thought.
Then, as he opened a drawer, a familiar journal caught his eye.
It was the one he’d sent to Amara the last time he thought he was about
to die.
But now, seeing it in my drawer, his confusion grew.
Alaric paused, his mind racing. He opened the journal without thinking, only to find my handwriting on the first page.
“Get lost! Alaric, I’m done with you!”
