Chapter 3
The whole room erupted in murmurs.
“Sir, what do you mean?” the auctioneer asked in surprise.
The man explained, “I’m Mr. Malfoy’s assistant. He instructed me to purchase any item Ms. Sophia selects today at the unlimited bidding.”
The auction hall instantly exploded with chatter.
“Mr. Malfoy? Did he mean the sole heir of the Malfoy family? The Houston Scion?”
“I thought he wasn’t interested in relationships. Why would he place the unlimited bidding for Ms. Sophia?”
“It looks like Ms. Sophia is about to soar to new heights!”
The surrounding whispers rose and fell. At first, Sophia looked stunned, but her expression soon shifted to delight and then settled into an unmistakable smugness.
“Excuse me, where is Mr. Malfoy? Can I thank him in person?” she asked, cheeks flushed.
The assistant replied respectfully, “Mr. Malfoy couldn’t make an appearance right now. When the time comes, he will meet you. himself.”
With that, Sophia turned to Elodie, her eyes beaming with triumph. “Are you still going to bid?”

Then, she feigned innocence and added, “Oh, I almost forgot that since Mr. Malfoy is backing me with the unlimited bidding. I’m afraid you might go bankrupt if you keep bidding. After all, who else in this circle. has more money than Mr. Wen?”
Elodie’s face darkened instantly. She stared at Sebastian, only to see him stare at Sophia with affection and warmth.
The rest of the auction unfolded like a romantic drama.
Any lot that caught Sophia’s eye was immediately claimed with an unlimited bidding by the assistant.
That diamond necklace, the Regency–era tea set, and even the 20 million dollar “Water Lilies” by Monet had all ended up in her hands.
Elodie couldn’t hold back any longer and abruptly stood up, fuming. She shouted at the assistant, “Does Mr. Malfoy plan to bid on every single thing here?”
The assistant cast a hesitant glance at Sebastian, who nodded slightly before answering her, “I apologize, Ms. Elodie. These are all Mr. Malfoy’s gifts to Ms. Sophia. He only cares that he enjoys the auction. and not about how others feel.”
Elodie smiled bitterly at his answer and dug her nails deep into her palm.
She turned to look at Sebastian, but his gaze was locked on Sophia the entire time.
She thought to herself, “You’ve outdone yourself, Sebastian!”
When the auction concluded, Sophia was surrounded by socialites and heiresses who fawned over her as if she were the center of the world.

Seeing this, Elodic couldn’t take the hypocrisy anymore and hurriedly left the venue.
As soon as she got in the car, she ordered the driver. “Head to the Twilight Club.”
She needed alcohol to numb herself.
But before the car door closed. Sophia slid in. “Elodie, are you going to the club? I’ve been so bored lately. Can you take me with you?”
Elodie was ready to kick her out of the car when Sebastian blocked the car door and instructed the driver to keep going.
Sophia talked about the auction with great excitement throughout the
ride.
“Sebastian, why do you think Mr. Malfoy is so nice to me? I’ve never even met him before!”
“It’s because he likes you,” he answered, his voice as gentle as possible.
Her eyes widened instantly, “Stop joking around!”
and her cheeks flushed in embarrassment.
I’m a man, so naturally, I understand him best, he said, gazing at her intently. “He must really like you to be spending that kind of money. And honestly, you’re so lovely. It’s no surprise he does.”
“Do you like me too?” Sophia suddenly asked him.
Sebastian was stunned for a moment. But just as he was about to reply, Elodie interrupted them coldly, “Get out of this car if you want to flirt. This is my car!”
“Sorry, Elodie. I didn’t mean to bother you. I’ll keep my mouth shut.‘

Sophia looked pitiful.
Elodie didn’t bother responding and turned to look out the window.
Through the reflection, she saw the tenderness and affection in
Sebastian’s eyes as he looked at Sophia. But when his gaze moved to her, it was cold and laced with contempt.
She smiled bitterly to herself, thinking how men always seemed to prefer a two–faced bitch.
