Chapter 26 New Coach
Receiving Azalea’s endorsement, Wylie gave Irene a few more curious looks. Was she perhaps another hidden talent in esports?
Caught up in the intrigue, Wylie invited them both to join him in the car.
Azalea took the seat in the middle, facilitating introductions between the two.
Irene was somewhat starstruck, knowing Wylie as one of her favorite esports players. She admired how his strategic plays often swung the momentum of the game in his team’s favor, leading to stunning victories just when it seemed all was lost. She mused that if she possessed such prowess in gaming, she would want to be as dependable a player as Wylie was to his
Knowing Azalea’s own caliber, Wylie was curious about the skills of someone she praised so highly.
He asked directly. “What are some of your achievements in gaming?
“How many national championships have you participated in? What’s your main role?”
Irene flushed with embarrassment at the questions, which Wylie mistook for modesty.
“Do you really want me to say it?” I wasn’t aware that strength was a requirement to join the training group.
“Really, you can tell me,” he encouraged, his interest piqued. He was eager to know just how skilled she was to merit such praise from Azalea.
“Well, I reached Heavenly 1, just two stars shy of Champion, Irene finally shared, her response leaving Wylie momentarily speechless.
She was a bit shy, casting a quick glance at Wylie. “I haven’t won any national championships, but I did clinch a local village tournament once. Plus, I had a streak of wins when a new hero was released”
Really? Wylie’s gaze shifted between Irene and Azalea, who was grinning mischievously. For a moment, he was not sure who to be more skeptical of
Is this the prodigy Azalea was talking about?
Even his buddy’s younger cousin, who was just in junior high, played better than this!
Wylie’s bewildered expression was too much, and Azalea burst out laughing, patting him on the shoulder. “Come on, don’t look so shocked! Irene here is a strategic talent.”
Irene quickly chimed in, “I’m actually quite skilled at ban–pick strategy and analyzing game data.”
“She’s not here to compete but to coach us. We have a practice match against Anexis today, right? Why not let Irene help guide us?” Azalea added.
The current coach was on the verge of retirement, staying only because Wylie had asked him to. After a disappointing loss in the Autumn Finals, Wylie was keen to revamp the team.
However, after a series of setbacks, including a betrayal and the coach’s departure, the team’s morale plummeted. Some went back to their studies on family advice, while others were snatched up by rival teams, leaving Wylie alone to salvage his Esports dreams.
GOD was
was once a fleeting legend on the esports battlefield.
Azalea was determined to make COD resonate throughout the Clory League.
Wylie saw no reason to disagree. He trusted Azalea’s judgment, and since their coach had decided to retire after the Autumn Finals, if Irene was as capable as Azalea claimed, she would be an ideal fit for the role.
Upon arriving at the base, the team was all set.
Lachlan handed Azalea her new team uniform, saying, “Phoenix, here’s your uniform. Change into it later in the restroom. We’ll take some pictures for the league first, then head into a practice match with Anexis.”

If there were ever a competition for the most stylish team uniforms, GOD would undoubtedly clinch a top spot. Wylie was a perfectionist, he either did things exceptionally well or not
From the inception of the team, nothing was done half–heartedly. A renowned designer was brought in to craft their uniforms.
The uniforms were sleek, silver–gray with gold embroidery, each featuring a unique emblem representing the player’s ID stitched on the back.
When Azalea spread out her uniform, the noticed the design under her alias “Phoenix” on the back resembled a phoenix clutching a pearl, strikingly elegant.
Holding the uniform, she felt a surge of excitement, She felt even more determined not to let Anexis overshadow them, not with such magnificent gear!
After changing and completing the photo session, Azalea settled into her gaming chair. Surrounded by her teammates in matching uniforms, she was overwhelmed with a sense of camaraderie and youthful zeal.
The feeling was intense–like rallying with a band of strangers toward a shared victory.
During the photoshoot, Azalea also introduced Irene to the coach, who grew increasingly impressed by what he heard. Considering Azalea’s unconventional approach to the game, he saw potential in Irene’s involvement.
“Our training match today includes a familiar face on the opposing side, declared the marksman, Sam, his tone resolute.
Lachlan, ever the provocateur, chimed in, “Today, we’re going to dominate the bottom lane so hard they’ll be calling us ‘daddy
The coach, holding his folder, quickly teinpered the room’s energy, “Focus on your performance first, then talk.”
Turning to Irene, he said, “Irene, you’re in for this game!
