Chapter 12
“Do you want to die? It’s easy, but just don’t dirty Elena’s hands.”
The air suddenly became heavy and cold, a wave of wild pressure descended. The next moment-
“Bang!”
The hall doors were slammed open, and Asher, with his pack warriors, stormed in. Alpha’s dominance swept through the room, and
even the air seemed to freeze.
His eyes were filled with murderous intent, and his obsidian–like pupils reflected my disheveled form.
“Elena, don’t be afraid. I’m here to take you home.”
Asher quickly walked over, his movements careful yet determined. He fastened the loose buttons on my shirt and draped his coat over my shoulders. His warmth finally calmed my trembling body.
He looked up, his gaze sharp as it fell on Damon. His voice was low, laced with sharpness,
“Damon, if you had the guts to compete with me openly, I’d still respect you as an Alpha. But using these vile tactics to force your mate? I find it disgusting.
A pale, bitter smile twisted at Damon’s lips, but before he could speak, the intense pain from his wounds caused him to collapse, gasping for breath. Even raising his hand was a struggle.
“Elena… don’t… go with him… I won’t allow it…”
I no longer loved him, but I couldn’t just stand there and watch him die in front of me.
Asher noticed the hesitation in my eyes and calmly instructed,
“Take him to the pack hospital. Don’t let him die here and dirty the ground.”
As soon as Damon was taken to the hospital, Asher acted swiftly, using his beta to completely sabotage the project in Azurith that
Damon had worked on for months.
Then, Asher’s Alpha friends, hidden in the capital, joined forces to seal Damon’s fate. Overnight, the newmoon pack’s assets in the human world plummeted, and their company stock dropped like a free fall.
It was then that I learned Asher’s true identity–he was the only heir to the Alpha King, wielding power over the entire werewolf realm.
His words commanded instant submission from everyone.
The day Damon was discharged from the hospital, he was supposed to return to the pack to deal with the collapse of his company.
But when he suddenly learned that Asher and I were holding a mating ceremony at the seaside, he canceled his flight and stormed into the ceremony with Harper’s urn.
The sunlight fell on the beach, vows were about to be exchanged, and just before the rings were placed on our fingers–he appeared.
“Elena! You can’t seal the mate bond!”
He roared, stepping forward, holding the urn tightly in his arms, his gaze wild like a cornered wolf.
Asher had already anticipated his arrival. Several warriors blocked his way, releasing a chilling aura.
A
“Elena…” Damon’s voice trembled. “If you seal the mate bond with him, I won’t hold Harper’s funeral!”
Ifroze.
He was actually using our child’s ashes to threaten me.
My anger surged, and my wolf roared inside me. In that moment, the mate bond I had with Damon completely bud out, with nothing
left.
I strode over, signaling the warriors to let him go.
For a fleeting moment, a glimmer of false hope appeared in Damon’s eyes. His lips curled into a faint smile, and he took a step toward
- me.
What greeted him was the ruthless slap I gave him.
“Slap!”
The mark of my hand instantly appeared on his face, and without hesitation, I slapped him again. His head was snapped to the side, his eyes filled with shock.
I spoke coldly,
“Have you woken up? Not yet? Then I’ll keep going.”
The third and fourth slaps came without pause. He staggered back, blood spilling from the corner of his mouth.
I snatched Harper’s urn from his arms, lowering my head to whisper to the small urn,
“Harper, I’m sorry. I left you there to escape hell. Now, we can go home together.”
With that, I turned and coldly ordered,
“Take him away. Never let him show his face to me again.”
The warriors immediately moved, hauling Damon away in his dazed state.
He struggled, his voice broken,
“Elena, don’t seal the mate bond with him! Don’t leave me!”
His knees buckled, and with a loud thud, he collapsed to the ground, his voice hoarse like a wounded wolf on the brink of death.
“I beg you… you and the child can’t leave me…”
I didn’t answer him, walking toward Asher.
Asher slid the ring onto my finger, then leaned down, deeply biting into my neck, marking me as his.
With the cheers of the pack around us, he pulled me into his arms and kissed me deeply.
He wiped away the tears from the corner of my eye, and placed me in the wedding car, with Harper’s urn in my arm.
The moment the car door closed, I heard Damon’s desperate howl behind me, heartbreaking like a mad wolf who had lost his mate.
I didn’t look back.
Later, I heard that after Asher took me away, Damon threw himself into the sea, claiming he wanted to atone.
Whether he was still alive now-
-no one knew.
