Lyra’s POV
eyes still lingering when he saw me.
Tristan lay in a pool of blood, the fear in his eyes
“Lyra, am I going to die? Or will I get another chance to live again?
“III could be reborn once more, I swear I wouldn’t make the same mistake
There was actually hope in his eyes, as if he truly believed fare might grant him another opportunity.
I couldn’t understand how someone could only see the value of life when it was slipping away. My voice turned cold as I scolded him, “Tristan, stop thinking about things that don’t matter. What you should focus on is staying alive.”
He stared at me, tears of regret trailing down his face. “Then you have to save me. You won’t just leave me to die, right?”
“It was all my fault before. I’ll make it up to you. I’ll stay by your side, be loyal to you, and treat you well for the rest of my life.”
“I finally understand now–you were the only one who truly loved me. Estelle only ever cared about money. She was just using me
I cut him off by pressing the oxygen mask over his mouth, refusing to listen to his endless ramblings
After helping the other doctors transfer him onto the ambulance, I turned and rushed to treat the next patient.
By the time everything finally settled down, it was already late into the next night.
Back–to–back critical surgeries had left all the medical staff utterly exhausted.
Lucian had prepared a late–night meal for the entire team and placed it in my office, ensuring that everyone could at least have something warm after stepping off the operating table.
As my colleagues sipped the bot soup, their weary faces softened into smiles

“Lyra, the Alpha King is really thoughtful. He’s sent food for two nights in a row now. We barely have time to eat, but still, you should thank him for us.” Hearing Lucian’s name, warmth spread through my heart.
I had only taken a couple of bites when a nurse suddenly burst into my office, looking frantic.
“Lyra, come quickly! The patient in bed 16-
I didn’t have time to recall who was in bed 16. The moment I heard her urgency, I put my meal down and rushed out, instructing the nurse to prepare emergency treatment along the way.
but the moment I barged in, I met Tristan’s sorrowful eyes.
The breath I’d been holding lodged in my throat, choking me.
“Lyra, why haven’t you come to see me in the past two days?”
“Do I really mean that little to you?”
“I know I was wrong. Please, forgive me. I swear, I’ll treat you right from now on.”
The high–intensity surgeries had already drained m
I my energy, and now, hearing his self–pitying nonsense only irritated me further.
“Tristan, this is the emergency ward. If you’re not in critical condition, stop wasting medical resources.
“And for the last time, I already have a mate. Our mating ceremony is in three days. I hope you never interfere in my life for personal reasons again.”
His eyes locked onto mine with unwavering determination. “I don’t believe you. If you truly loved someone else, if you really had a second mate, then why was I the first person you saved during the rogue attack?”
Standing by his bedside, I kept my voice detached as I explained, “A healer prioritizes patients based on the severity of their injuries. You were treated first because your condition was critical”

With that, I turned to leave.
Behind me, Tristan’s anguished voice cracked with desperation
I don’t believe it! Lyra, you must still have feelings for me! I’ll find a way to prove it!”
I pretended not to hear a thing and kept walking forward, never looking back.
