Chapter 1
My husband, who had been in love with me for 11 years, told me:
“Let’s get divorced I want to give her a status.”
The next day, we went to the courthouse.
Since that day, he has never returned home, only receiving constant updates from them on Instagram.
And I also gave up all the help to his company, wanting to see how far he could go on his own.
The sky was clear, the sun was just right, and the breeze was gentle. William and I walked into the courthouse together.
A gentle breeze brushed past, noticing my disheveled hair, he habitually raised his hand to tidy it for me.
Seeing this scene, the staff in charge of marriage registration took the initiative to greet us and invited us to take a seat.
“Sorry, we came to file for divorce.”
When I stated my purpose, the staff members widened their eyes and looked at each other in surprise.
We were led into the house by the staff, and the clerk asked us about the reasons for our divorce.
William Turner pursed his lips and remained silent, so I kindly spoke on his behalf:
“Emotional breakdown, incompatible personalities.”
That being said, everyone knows deep down that it’s just empty words.
The real reason was that William had someone else he wanted to wholeheartedly protect.
The girl was an employee at the coffee shop downstairs from his company.
Picking her up for work, accompanying her attentively in the hospital bed, and being under the watchful eyes of the public at the campus celebration Providing her with designer clothes, presenting her with a huge bouquet, and even stating that the sponsorship for the celebration. All based on my girlfriend’s participation
She had made me her guardian angel.
As for the reasons why I agreed to the divorce, they were even simpler.
I never touched garbage that had been touched by others.
Looking at the slightly faded marriage certificate, the staff advised us, as is customary, not to be impulsive and to think about the days when we were together and knew each other.
“I was very busy, please hurry.”
The man’s cold and icy words greatly accelerated the speed of the staff’s processing
About half an hour later, William and I each received a receipt for the divorce cooling–off period.
He tightly pursed his thin lips.
“Maddie, where are you going? I’ll accompany you.”
