Scenes from last night’s passionate moments suddenly flashed through Kendrick’s mind. His eyes narrowed, and he pressed his fingers to his temple due to the headache.
How could he have mistaken Linda for Raelynn?
It was absurd!
A wave of frustration surged from deep within him. Kendrick snapped his eyes open and immediately began checking the handwriting.
The woman’s handwriting was messy, barely legible. It could only be described as “neat” in the loosest sense. It bore no resemblance to Raelynn’s delicate, beautiful script.
Kendrick collapsed onto the bed, letting the memories from last night roll over him, engulfing him completely.
Over the years, Linda had been the only woman he didn’t feel repulsed by.
He was a normal man, and sometimes when the need arose, he hadn’t exactly ruled out finding someone to satisfy it. But no matter how beautiful or seductive a woman was, even if she stood before him completely naked, Kendrick felt nothing but deep rejection.
The good time he had experienced from last night suddenly resurfaced in his mind.
He found himself almost yearning for her scent.
“Linda … ” Kendrick murmured, his eyes darkening for a brief moment.
To celebrate the successful acquisition of the Reece Group project, Oasis Group threw a grand celebration.
At the party, Raelynn, the project lead, was naturally the center of attention. Many colleagues constantly approached her to offer toasts. She kept a careful eye on her alcohol intake, drinking just enough before finding an excuse to step out onto the balcony to clear her head.
Raelynn gazed out at the dazzling city lights of Couhgan. The city was as young and vibrant as ever, teeming with both opportunity and risk at every corner.
She sat down on the swing on the balcony, letting the night wind tousle her hair. She casually pushed a strand back from her cheek, her every movement exuding lazy allure.
Memories of last night came flooding back–the heated moments, the blushing, heart–racing fragments that seemed to play out in front of her eyes.
Her body began to heat up slightly, but her gaze remained cold and distant, her strong will suppressing her emotions.
Raelynn took a small sip from her wine glass, the deep red liquid leaving a glistening trace on her lips, which were full and inviting.
“Kendrick.”
She narrowed her eyes, the man’s voice from last night still echoing in her ears.
People are strange, she thought.
The ones they desire are out of reach, and when they finally have them, they don’t cherish them.
Doubt clouds the moments when they’re together, and once lost, they only yearn for what they can’t have.
The longing to meet, and when the meeting comes, it’s always too late.
A lifetime seems to be full of regrets.
A small, cynical smile tugged at her lips as her gaze drifted to the sparkling night sky. She finished her drink in one swift

Reece Group.
“Hello, here’s my business card. I need to discuss the project proposal with Mr. Reece.”
Raelynn stood tall in a low–cut professional outfit, poised and graceful, with just the right hint of sensuality. She stood with her back straight, quietly awaiting confirmation from the secretary.
“Ms. Linda, this way, please.”
“Thank you.”
She lightly knocked on the office door, and upon hearing the deep, magnetic voice of the man tell her to enter, she smiled faintly and opened the door.
“Mr. Reece.”
She walked toward him with a slow, confident stride, her beautiful eyes gleaming, her lips slightly parted.
Since that night, Kendrick couldn’t help but picture the woman fully naked whenever he saw her.
“Hi, Linda.” His voice was rougher than usual.
Raelynn smoothly opened her leather folder and placed the documents on the desk in front of him. She said, “Mr. Reece, this is the proposal our team has just put together. I would appreciate your valuable feedback.”
