Chapter 25 Report
Chapter 25 Report
Kendrick’s biological mother had taken her own life by jumping into the sea. Daphne was not the one who tore apart their family as a mistress, and that was precisely why Kendrick had been able to accept this stepmother.
Thea knew the reasons behind it, so she planned to build a good relationship with her future mother–in–law.
“Ms. Daphne, do you think this flower looks good here?” She deliberately lowered her posture.
“It looks good, but this bellflower would look even better.”
“Really? Ms. Daphne, you’re amazing.”
The middle–aged woman smiled kindly. “You’re already engaged, and you still call me that?”
Hearing this, Thea blushed, then curving her lips, she obediently called, “Daphne.”
“Ah, that’s better. Although Kendrick is reluctant to call me anything else, I truly like you as my daughter–in–law. I’ll treat you like my own daughter.”
“Thank you, Daphne.”
“Well, would you like to hear me nag a little more?”
Thea furrowed her brow slightly and looked up at the older woman, who continued, “Kendrick’s dad and I are both retired now. We stay at home, tend to the flowers, and feed the goldfish. If you two can hurry and give us a grandchild, his dad won’t keep complaining about being bored all the time.”
“Daphne …” Thea’s face turned even redder.
“Why are you shy? Every woman has to go through this stage. If you have a baby early, it’ll be easier for your body to recover. Trust me on this. Go with Kendrick for a pre–marriage check–up in the next few days. Once a man settles down, having children is what makes him truly mature.”
Now that Kendrick had proposed to her, if she could get pregnant with his child soon, maybe that would make him finally forget about Raelynn and prevent any changes.
Thea thought about it and realized this might not be such a bad idea, so she agreed cheerfully.
Kendrick was more than pleased to accompany her for the check–up. Thea’s last bit of doubt finally disappeared with his reaction.
Maybe, this time, he really had let go of Raelynn.
The next day.
Kendrick held a yellowed photograph in his hand. In the picture, the girl was around 18, dressed in a white dress and canvas shoes, her black, straight hair reaching her waist. Her smile was as bright and warm as the summer sun.
This was the only photograph he had found in the old house.
As he stared at it, lost in thought, Tim knocked on the office door.
Kendrick quietly slipped the photo into the drawer and then said, “Come in.”
“Mr. Reece, the hospital’s check–up report is ready.”
Tim immediately handed over the documents.
Kendrick furrowed his brows and flipped open the report, scanning it quickly.
This was the pre–marriage check–up he had arranged for Thea the previous day.

As he looked at the words printed on the medical report, Kendrick’s face gradually darkened. The atmosphere in the office seemed to drop with his mood.
He had long expected this.
With a sharp noise, Kendrick slammed the report onto the table, stood up, and walked over to the floor–to–ceiling window, silent.
Tim furrowed his brows in confusion. Instinctively, he glanced at the papers on the desk.
What he saw stunned him, his eyes going wide in shock.
It wasn’t the fact that Thea’s report listed a past surgery for hymen restoration under her gynecological section.
It was because …
The kidney test results showed both kidneys were intact.
How could this be?!
He clearly remembered that Thea had donated a kidney to his boss to save his life.
So why now…
“Mr. Reece? Could the hospital have made a mistake?” Tim couldn’t help but question.
