He shifted his body but felt sluggish all over. A chill coursed through him, making him sneeze. His symptoms left him fully aware that he had caught a cold.
Weak and disoriented, Kendrick staggered downstairs in search of medicine, his body burning with fever, nearly enough to dry him out.
When he opened the medicine cabinet, his eyes widened in shock.
The medicine was neatly organized, making it easy to find the cold and fever medicine.
Kendrick’s frown deepened as he stood frozen, staring at the neatly arranged bottles for a long time.
“Ken, I’ve organized all the medicine for you. These are the essentials we always keep at home. If you get sick when I’m not around, remember to take your medicine and get better, okay?”
Her warm and caring voice seemed to echo in his ears. A sharp headache worsened, and suddenly his vision blurred. He staggered, trying to steady himself.
“Raelynn, I’m sick now, but where are you.”
He had been working relentlessly for many days straight, burning the candle at both ends for months. No matter how healthy a person was, the toll on both body and mind would eventually take its due.
Finally, Kendrick’s vision darkened, and he lost consciousness.

Thea’s fingers gently brushed his sharp jawline, her voice trembling with both pain and tenderness. “Do you know you’ve been asleep for a whole day and night? When they brought you in, you had a fever of 104 F. The doctor said if you had waited any longer, it could’ve been serious.
“You wouldn’t let me come to take care of you in the villa, and yet you couldn’t take care of yourself. How could I not worry about you?”

Thea leaned forward, locking eyes with him, her lips biting down in hesitation. “Kendrick, how about we just get married soon? The wedding can wait; I’m fine with that. But I really want to take care of you. Seeing you not taking care of yourself makes my heart break.”
She waited anxiously for his response. Kendrick, however, seemed to ignore her words, his gaze distant and vacant, neither rejecting nor agreeing.
A feeling of disappointment crept into Thea’s heart. She narrowed her eyes, clenched her teeth, and asked, “Kendrick, why won’t you answer me?”
Still, there was no answer from him.
Her fingers tightened, her breath quickening. “Is it because you still have Raelynn in your heart?”
Hearing the name, Kendrick’s gaze finally changed.
