Alberto’s eyes darkened as he stared at the woman, his voice calm as he spoke, “A long time ago, you mentioned wanting to visit Vlebus to see the maple leaves … ”
Hearing this, Raelynn froze for a moment, as if something from the past had suddenly resurfaced in her mind. Her expression shifted slightly.
It truly was a long time ago.

But the man she remembered was set on taking her to Astua to see the koalas.

“Alberto, I never thought you would understand me so well.”
A bitter smile tugged at her lips, and the coldness in her gaze made Alberto feel an even deeper ache in his heart.
Alberto fought back the urge to embrace her, inhaled deeply, and feigned reproach. “Raelynn, I can’t believe you didn’t see me as a real friend.
“You didn’t tell me when you got out of prison, you left for Astua without saying a word, and for all these months, you didn’t call me once. Were you planning to cut me off forever?”
“No,” Raelynn replied, shaking her head, anxiety flickering in her eyes. “Alberto, I’m sorry. I left so quickly that I didn’t have time to inform you. Besides, I didn’t want too many people to know.”
Back then, given the situation, she couldn’t be sure if her phone was being tapped.
“I didn’t come here just to hear you say sorry.”
Alberto’s tone was calm but firm. His eyes stayed fixed on her, giving her no chance to look away. “Raelynn, now that I’ve found you, let me stay and help you take care of Lola.”
“No, absolutely not!” Raelynn refused.
“Listen to me. With your health right now, you can’t afford any accidents. You’re a woman alone in a foreign country with a child. Do you realize how dangerous that is? Besides, Kendrick is already in Vlebus looking for me.”
Hearing this, Raelynn’s eyes instantly narrowed.

Taking a deep breath, her gaze turned firm. “You’ve already helped me care for Lola for two years. I can’t keep relying on you! And if Kendrick knows you’re in Vlebus, it won’t take long for him to find me too.
“So, for my sake, please go back.
“I absolutely refuse to interact with that man any longer.”
In this life, everything between them has already been settled.
Hearing her resolute voice, Alberto paused briefly before letting out a helpless sigh.

Behind him, a young model who had been waiting patiently moved closer. She leaned in near his ear, her breath warm as she whispered, “Sir, you’ve had quite a lot to drink tonight. Don’t you think it’s time we did something else?”
Kendrick slowly turned his head, his unfocused eyes settling on her. He lifted his hand to gently grasp her chin and asked, “What exactly do you want to do?”
