Thea’s lips lifted slightly, and her eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief.
She had been patient enough to wait an additional month to secure an appointment with the skilled tattoo artist. The scar appeared not only lifelike but also had an impeccable texture.
Had it not been for that, deceiving Kendrick for so long would have been impossible.
Two weeks later.
Kendrick who was exhausted after finishing an international conference, slumped into his chair, closing his eyes for a brief moment of rest. Suddenly, Tim rushed into the room.
“Mr. Reece! We’ve finally figured it out!”
His words made Kendrick snap his eyes open, his expression tightening with concern. “What is it?”
“Alberto moved to Viebus a year ago. He’s been out of the country for quite some time,” Tim informed him.
For the last two weeks, Kendrick had used every resource at his disposal to track down Alberto. However, the man had clearly prepared himself well, keeping his location under tight wraps.
Throughout this period, Kendrick had pushed himself relentlessly, allowing the pressure from his work to consume him. The company’s executives had become increasingly anxious, but it seemed that only by immersing himself in work could he avoid thinking about Raelynn.
Kendrick stayed in his seat, his dark eyes growing increasingly complicated.
He stared ahead, motionless, as if he could see, through the sterile white walls, the warm summer night from years ago when he carried her on his back along the cobblestone streets.
“Lynn, do you enjoy summer?”
The woman rested her head on his strong back, her voice gentle and sweet. “I actually like autumn more.”
“Why’s that?” Kendrick asked.
“I love the maple leaves.”
“Maple leaves?”
“Yes, I’ve always dreamed of going to Vlebus to see the maple trees. If I ever get the chance to live abroad, that would definitely be the first place I’d choose to settle.”
Kendrick almost felt as though Raelynn were still resting on his back, her soft hair gently brushing his neck and occasionally grazing his face.
It sent a tingling sensation, clawing at his heart, almost pushing him to the edge of madness.
Vebus… Alberto…
Suddenly, he clenched his fists, the thought of that woman possibly lying in another man’s arms, watching the maple leaves like they once did, sparking an intense anger within him.
He would never allow it!
Raelynn, even if I no longer want you, you will not repeat what we had with anyone else!
Completely oblivious to his intense jealousy, he only felt the fire in his chest scorching him from within.

Two days later, in Vlebus.
At dawn, the maple leaves drifted down, and the birds sang in the clear sky.
“Good morning!
“Have a great day!”
The man, still sweaty from his morning jog, paused and flashed a smile as he greeted his neighbor’s wife, who was offering a friendly hello.
Covered in sweat, Alberto headed home and went straight to the bathroom for a shower.
Ten minutes later, he emerged dressed in clean clothes, looking sharp and ready to meet clients.
The doorbell rang unexpectedly, and Alberto, now wearing a watch, went to check the camera. The screen was completely black, clearly tampered with on purpose.
Feeling confused, he frowned, wondering who could be behind this prank so early in the morning.
When Kendrick’s cold and serious expression appeared on the screen, Alberto was left completely stunned at the door, his eyes widening without thinking.
“Should I come in, or do you want to step out and talk?” Kendrick was the first to break the silence.
Alberto’s brows furrowed even more deeply. “Mr. Reece, I could still choose to close the door now.”
With that, he made a move to do so, but Kendrick quickly reached out and blocked the doorway, exuding a powerful presence.
“Alberto, hand over Raelynn.”
