Chapter 5
“Oh, the young couple had a good relationship.”
“From the looks of it, good things were coming. I would soon be able to attend my son’s wedding banquet and enjoy a drink!”
Ivy only came to her senses when she heard Rod’s father’s voice behind her.
She quickly raised her hand and took several photos, clearly capturing the grandest moment of the banquet.
The two people on the stage soon separated, and Yvette waved shyly towards the third floor.
“Ivy, you’ve worked hard. It’s good that you made it here today!”
Upon hearing this sentence, Ivy finally breathed a sigh of relief, collected her belongings and
walked over to Ivy’s mother and Rod’s father.
Ivy’s mother was holding Yvette’s hand and chatting with her with a smile on her face.
“We encountered some delays on the way, Yvette, you won’t blame us,
will you?”
“How could it be? You arrived just in time, we haven’t even cut the cake yet.”
Rod’s father looked at his son with a proud expression on his face and patted his shoulder. was filled with satisfaction as he said, “Rod, I am pleased that you have made such an important decision. Since you have given this necklace to Yvette, should we invite the Ford family over and discuss whether we should finalize the marriage?”
Yvette’s face instantly turned extremely crimson, as she gazed at Rod with eyes full of happiness.
Then she shifted her gaze to Ivy.
“I’m fine, it’s just that I don’t have many friends locally, so I might need Ivy’s help when the time
comes, to be my bridesmaid.”
Ivy rubbed her sore hands and didn’t hear what she said.
It was Ivy’s mother who poked her, repeated it again, and only then did she realize.
She lifted her head, her face still faint, showing no signs of joy or sorrow.
“Sorry, I had something to do afterwards, so I couldn’t make it to the wedding. However, I sincerely
wish my brother and sister–in–law happiness and a lifetime of togetherness.”
As soon as these words were spoken, all three of them smiled.

Except for Rod.
He glanced at Ivy with a darkened gaze.
The faint smile at the corner of the lips slowly disappeared.
After finishing the long and painful work, Ivy went straight home and entered the bathroom.
After washing up, she dragged her tired body and pushed open the door.
Before she could even enter, the next second, a pair of strong hands pressed her against the wall in the corridor.
Then came a dense and continuous rain of kisses, tracing up along her neck that was still dripping with water droplets, leaving behind a trail of red marks.
The sudden change almost made Ivy scream on the spot.
Her tongue pressed tightly against her throat as she swallowed those screams, dodging left and right, trying to break free from his grip.
But the more she tried to escape, the harder Rod kissed her, eventually grabbing her chin.
She struggled desperately, and the terror in her eyes deepened with the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs.
“You were crazy!”
Hearing these three words, Rod laughed coldly with red eyes and leaned close to her ear.
“I went crazy, why didn’t you call out? It would be best to let everyone come in and see what our relationship really is! Look at how your brother kissed you so passionately, leaving you completely overwhelmed,”
Ivy’s trembling heart finally calmed down completely when the footsteps stopped and then went downstairs.
She exerted strength to pull his hand, which was blocking her against the wall. She bent down and squeezed out, her tone filled with fear afterwards.
“What on earth were you going crazy about!”
Rod’s gaze followed her, the shadow in his eyes still lingering.
“Aren’t you going crazy? Who allowed you to call me brother and call her sister–in–law?”
Ivy stood still in place.

“I called you brother, what’s wrong with calling her sister–in–law? Aren’t you two getting married? And you kissed in front of me!”
“Ivy! How many times do you want me to explain? It was just acting! The reason I kissed Yvette wes simply because I saw our parents!”
He seemed genuinely angry, his tone of voice was both urgent and aggressive,
Ivy couldn’t tell whether his emotions at that moment were real or fake.
But subconsciously, she assumed that he was just acting, for her, so she continued his words and
nodded.
“Yes, you were indeed very good at acting!”
So, how far does this scene need to be played out in the end?
She had already been hurt as he wished, with her body completely battered, isn’t that enough?
Ivy didn’t say the following sentences, she just blinked a few times, and the tears she had been holding back for so long couldn’t help but flow out.
She was already tired and didn’t have the strength to accompany him in performing this play
anymore.
Did he still refuse to let her go?
