Chapter 3
Ivy’s heart trembled slightly as she turned her head to glance at Yvette, only to see her provocatively take out her phone and set an alarm.
One minute later, the alarm clock rang on time.
She pretended to answer the phone, and within a few seconds, a few tears welled up in her eyes as
she looked towards the front seat.
“Rod, the butler called and said that my puppy got sick. I am very worried. Can you please take me
back home now?”
Rod pulled over the car and looked out of the window at the incessant rain, furrowing his brow as he
turned back.
As soon as he saw her teary–eyed appearance, he hesitated for a few seconds but then shifted his
gaze to lvy,
“I am taking Yvette to the west side of the city now, which is out of the way. You can get out of the
car and take a taxi there first.”
Yvette was afraid that she would refuse, so she immediately handed over an umbrella.
Ivy’s gaze circled between the two individuals, but in the end, she didn’t say anything and
the car door.

The raindrops seeped through the holes in the torn umbrella, quickly drenching her entire body.
It was raining heavily, and she couldn’t catch a taxi at all. She had to hold her bag over her head and run quickly forward.
She ran for a full half hour before she finally arrived at the visa office, looking disheveled.
After successfully obtaining the visa, Ivy still couldn’t hail a taxi, so she had to continue walking in the rain for another hour to get back home.
As soon as she got home, she felt a fever coming on. She felt extremely uncomfortable all over her body and collapsed onto the bed in a dazed state.
She had some bizarre and unsettling nightmares, with cold sweat constantly pouring from her body, always feeling like there was a monster chasing after her.
When she struggled to open her eyes, she realized that the monster was Rod.
He held her in his arms, spoon–feeding her the medicine, with a gentle tone mixed with a hint of concern, “Be good, drink the medicine, and the illness will soon be gone.”

Ivy couldn’t distinguish whether she was in reality or a dream.
She swallowed a few pills and drifted off to sleep,
When I woke up again, the fever had already subsided,
She instinctively looked to her side,
There was no one around.
Only one cell phone kept vibrating on the bedside table.
She picked it up and opened it, only to discover a group of brothers sending, messages to Rod in the group chat.
“Rod, your acting skills are simply top–notch. I heard that you postponed several billion–dollar projects just to take care of your little sister when she fell ill?”
“Why do I feel like Rod is serious? Upon learning that she had a fever, he ran through more than twenty red lights to get home. Could it be that he has fallen in love with that little girl?”
“Similarly, I also felt that it didn’t seem like a performance, being in such a hurry.”
At the bottom of the message, Rod only replied with one sentence.
“Do I like her? Not unless I’m dead. But I have to play the whole act, just to make her completely heartbroken. That way, when the truth is revealed one day, she will be even more devastated, won’t
she?”
Word by word, sentence by sentence, Ivy’s heart trembled as she read.
After five years of companionship, I only received one sentence in return, “I’ll never like her unless
I’m dead.”
Rod, you really had no heart.
She felt a sense of exhaustion permeating her entire body, and her hands weakly drooped down.
The next second, the bedroom door was pushed open.
Rod, who came in carrying hot water, saw this scene and his face changed slightly. He quickly
stepped forward and snatched the phone away.
In that usually casual voice, there was a barely noticeable tension, “What did you see?”
Ivy lowered her head, covering her slightly red eyes, and spoke in a hoarse voice, “Is there something that I couldn’t bear to see?”

She didn’t understand why, since he already knew that her feelings for him hall reached an uncontrollable level, he didn’t stop.
Did it really need to be dragged on for so long, this scene?
Still, we had to be cautious, afraid that she would find out.
Do you not feel tired after pretending for so long with false emotions?
Enough! His purpose has been achieved! She was already in so much pain that she didn’t want to live anymore!
Rod had no idea about her thoughts. He thought she was just feeling unwell and quickly hugged her to comfort her. “How could it be? I was just preparing a surprise for you and didn’t want you to know. Since you’re not happy, should I tell you in advance?”
“I found out that Vermyra allows siblings to marry even without a blood relationship, Ivy. Let’s immigrate there in the future and then get married. I have already been arranging the necessary
matters.”
In countless late nights before this, the two people had chatted countless times.
Now, when she hears it again, Ivy no longer feels any excitement in her heart, only a calmness as still as a stagnant pool.
She knew that there would be no future between them.
Ten days later, Ivy will no longer exist in Rod’s life.
And she was no exception.
