He even pressured me to resign from my job to make room for Victoria at my company.
When I refused, he went down on his knees and begged me. He promised that if I quit, he would stop taking care of her.
I softened and agreed. But after I became unemployed, he continued bustling around Victoria just as before.
When I confronted him, he dismissed me casually, saying, “Is such a small matter worth making a fuss about? She’s pregnant. I can’t just ignore her.” Thinking of this, I wiped away the tears that had unconsciously fallen. My heart felt ice–cold.

I stood frozen, my gaze moving past Victoria toward my bedroom. My bedsheets had been changed to Victoria’s preferred pink ones. My dressing table was covered with her cosmetics.
Then, my eyes fell on the floor by the couch, where a used contraceptive lay discarded.
My stomach churned, and I nearly vomited. With me away from home, it was obvious who Raymond had used that with.
Raymond pushed open the door and entered. Seeing me, his face showed no trace of guilt as he asked casually, “You’re back?”
“Raymond, what’s the meaning of this?” I demanded.
“Vicky has nowhere to stay. What’s wrong with letting her stay for a while?”
