I snorted. Victoria had predicted correctly. My own husband truly did not believe me.
Nonetheless, it did not matter as I did not care anymore.
“Either divorce me or I’ll go to the police and report her.”
“What evidence do you have that Vicky did this?” His tone hardened, carrying a hint of warning.
“The police can investigate and find out whether there’s evidence.”
Enraged by my words, Raymond slammed his hand on the bedside table. “Minnie, you’d better know when to stop! You’re in this condition because of your own carelessness! Maybe the baby miscarried because of your malicious thoughts!”
His words hit me like a sledgehammer to the chest. I never imagined he would insult me so cruelly, saying such hurtful things.
“Raymond, who really needs to stop here? Was my miscarriage normal? Is it wrong for me to seek justice? The child in my womb was your flesh and blood too!” My voice trembled, tears welling in my eyes. Even so, I held them back. I refused to cry in front of him and let him see my vulnerability.
Guilt flashed in his eyes, and his tone softened. “Minnie, I know you’re upset, but Vicky is also a pitiful woman. She wouldn’t—”
“Pitiful? She’s pitiful? Am I nat pitiful?” I interrupted him with a cold laugh. “She’s a widow seducing a married man. She even caused me to miscarry, and you say she’s pitiful? Raymond, if you want to protect her, then divorce me!”
“Minnie, don’t be like this. Let’s talk properly-
“There’s nothing to discuss.”
I turned away, no longer looking at him. “I don’t want to see you right now. Please leave.”
I watched his dejected figure retreat, feeling no satisfaction.
