Chapter 79
“No… Xander I’m not listening to this. I don’t care if you want the divorce. I want it. Now, get the hell out of here.”
His eyes widened, mouth falling open as he froze. I could practically hear his wolf wailing. And then, his gaze snapped to me. “You…” He jabbed a finger in my direction. “You brainwashed her. You turned her against me. You did this.”
Jane threw her hands up. “Can you hear yourself? Leave, Xander. Now.”
“Jane… look. Just listen to me. We can work things out. I love you. Let‘ s start over, clean slate. I’ll be good. I promise. Just… don’t give up on us.”
She went quiet. I looked at her, waiting for her to say something. But she went still. The silence stretched for so long that I began to feel oddly uncomfortable.
Her eyes were blank. For a second, I really, truly thought she was considering it.
But then she looked at him with fire in her eyes. “Fuck. Off.”
I let out a breath. Good.
Xander’s jaw twitched stubbornly. “I’m not going anywhere.”
God, this Alpha is acting like a fucking scoundrel right now. “Leave, Xander.”

He puffed his chest out and flashed his red eyes at me. “Make me, hero.”
I stared at him, fingers curling into fists, claws already extending. My wolf was more than eager to take him up on his offer. And I just might give in to the urge to give him a good and proper beating.
But I didn’t want to be the guy who lost control. All those years of anger management classes now felt like a waste. Xander was about to undo all my progress just by talking smack.
The only thing that made me hesitate was my company. I was already handling the contract termination with Xander… I didn’t want to add another scandal to that.
I could already picture my PR director, Claire, sighing into her fifth espresso and pinching the bridge of her nose. “You should’ve known better than to argue with a CEO whose company’s circling the drain. We don’t need your name trending for a hallway brawl. Get it together, Aaron,” she’d say.

“What are you waiting for, Aaron? Don’t you want to put on a show for my wife?”
Jane moved before I could. She stepped around me and grabbed Xander’s arm with a force I didn’t suspect. “You’re done.”
“Jane, wait…”
She ignored him. She pushed him out of the room. I followed her down the hallway, stopping at the top of the stairs. I didn’t like her near him, but I feared if I got too close, my wolf would pummel Xander.
He suddenly yanked his arm free and turned to her with a desperate expression. “You still love me. I know you do. We can fix this, Jane.

We can work it out.”
I rolled my eyes and started heading down the stairs. I couldn’t believe the nerve of this guy. But then Jane suddenly grunted, pushed her hand back and shoved.
Xander stumbled down a step, arms flailing for balance. He fell hard, catching himself with a thud against the wall. He looked up at me immediately. There was accusation written all over his face. I knew what he was thinking. This is all your fault.
He finally pulled himself up and brushed at his clothes. “You want a war? You keep pushing for divorce and you’ll both get it. You’ll both fucking beg for mercy when I’m done.”
Jane didn’t even blink. “Try me.” That was all she said. She grabbed his arm one last time and dragged him down the last few steps. She shoved him toward the door, reached around him and yanked it open.
“Get. Out.”
*Aaron*
Even after Jane practically threw Xander out of the house, he still didn‘ t leave. He stood by the doorway, eyes darting between Jane and I. They were filled with venom. I could feel the rage pouring out of his wolf.
“Leave,” Jane repeated, pointing at the open door. The idiot still didn’t move. And just when I thought he was about to hurl words at’us, his shoulders fell and finally, he turned.
Jane and I shared a look before following after him to make sure he was actually going to leave. Fortunately for him, Xander didn’t stop or look back, he just walked straight to his car.

Grant came running just then, throwing an accusatory glance at Xander before turning to Jane. “I apologize, Luna. I forgot Alpha Xander’s car still had gate access.”
