Chapter 70
“No. You said it was strategy,” he pressed on, voice rising. “You told me that baby is mine. You said Xander was just an easy target and loved having you as a distraction. You’re really going to pass off my baby as his now?”
Mia’s face drained of all color, and she looked between us. “That’s not… he’s twisting things!”
“You can’t seriously be lying about this. I’m standing right here. You just told me how much you love me. Tell her the truth, Mia.”
She ignored him, wild eyes turning to me. “Jane, come on. You know me…”
I raised a hand up and let out a breath. “Enough.” They both shut up. I took a step forward, watching Mia squirm. “You know, I used to think you were just a bitch.” Her nostrils flared at the insult. “But now…” I smirked, tilting my head. “I have to admit, you’re a smart bitch.”
She flinched. “You knew exactly when and where to find that footage of me in the supply closet. My guess? John’s access card came in real handy, didn’t it?”
Her jaw clenched. Lucky could smell her wolf stirring. But with one glance, she cowered back down.
“What do you even want from me, Jane?”
I stepped closer. “It’s very simple. A quick and painless divorce.”

“That’s not within my control. You should talk to Xander about that.”
“Oh, but there’s a lot you can do. I’m giving you two days to provide evidence of your illicit affair with Xander. Something usable in court. Of course, you won’t be implicated… that’s the most I can do for you.”
She opened her mouth to argue, but I lifted one brow, shutting her up. “If you don’t… well.” I shrugged and tapped my bag. “I’m sure the entire staff at Blackwood group would love to see the little movie I just made of you and John here.”
“I don’t need to tell you how much that would destroy you,” I continued. “This is your chance to keep some dignity.”
Not like she had much left anyways.

Mia’s eyes narrowed. I could practically hear the gears turning in her head, trying to figure out a way out of this. I let her, because I knew I’d successfully trapped her. There was no getting out of this without agreeing to my terms.
“You’ll hand over the videos, or photos. Whatever it is you’ve got that proves your little affair with Xander. Because if you don’t…” I leaned in to let my words sink in. “I won’t just send this footage to the entire Blackwood group, I’ll let the press get a good look too.”
“You’re insane,” she spat. “Do you know what that’ll do to you? You’ll look bitter, jealous, unstable even. You’ll be dragging your own name through the mud.”
“Oh, honey,” I laughed, shaking my head at how stupid she was. “You‘ re the one who got caught getting railed by a different man in a married

Alpha’s company. What do you think that’ll do to you?”
Mia clenched her jaw and turned to look at John. He had taken a couple of steps back, now standing against the wall. His fists twitched like he couldn’t wait to disappear completely.
She finally turned back to me. “Okay,” she licked her lips, voice softening, shifting into a sugary tone. “Let’s not… escalate things, Jane. There’s no need for the threats, right? We’re both adults. We can work this out.”
She offered me a sweet smile. I sighed. This bitch really thought she had the same effect on me as she had on Xander? “I’m moving on,” I told her flatly. “But I need something substantial. On my terms.” I watched as her smile faltered. “You have two days.”
“Why are you doing this to me?”
I scoffed. This was ridiculous. “You made a fool of yourself. You thought you were too smart to get caught. Take some responsibility.‘
“You’re such a hypocrite,” she hissed. The sugary tone had completely disappeared. “Did you forget how you landed, Xander? You threw yourself at him just like every other girl hoping for a better life. You think men like him notice girls like us unless we spread our legs and beg for attention?”
“You have your MBA from Harvard. You became CMO married into money. And now you want someone richer? Better? Don’t be greedy, Jane. Don’t act like you’re better than me. You’re just a gold–digger, don’t pretend you’re someone with dignity.”
